Treeing Walkers VS. English

Would like to hear SERIOUS opinions on each of the two. What you like best of each breed, and what you dont like so well. I like both and would also like to hear what breed you think really has the total package!

english vs tw

English, Ive hunted a few decent walkers but my experiance with them is they are just way to tree minded and like to pull up slick. I like the english they can drive a track and blow the top out of the tree. I dont like walking to empty trees. They call them walkers for a reason. lol just my opinion though im sure there will be 4000000000000 walker guys that wouldnt give a nickel for every english in the country.

there

are good and bad in every breed!i'm not colored blind either!!
i've had them all myself.

but i will say this about english breed.i have seen alot more mean eng. males at the tree, than any breed.
there is a top english stud owner/comp. hunter on here.that won't keep or hunt the males off his hound for that reason.{he told me for that himself}.

i agree there are good and bad in all ive seen a few really good walkers even owned a couple decent ones. Would own another if i found one i liked. But in my personal experiance ive had better luck with english. To each is his own.

If I could not own Walkers i'd be taking a good look at the English dogs. I have hunted with a couple nice ones and that's kinda saying something cause there are barely any around here at all.

Funny how times have changed , Nowadays they pull up short or miss LOl. Or they Slick. But it's hard to get a fellow on here to admit to a lieing dog. And Gawd forbid , Jerry's Monkey take care of the problem. There is a post on Perspective on here tonight as a matter of Fact about when to give up. LOL. With a 225+/- first and first type of a lieing dog and Wondering what??????.

the reason why theres so many slick tree dogs now days is that people are willing to feed em, if times keep getting tougher with less money the slick treers will go the way of the buffalo, there want be many lol. when i was a kid i had to climb the tree and shake the coon or possum out cause i was to young to carry a gun, it didnt take me to many times not finding nutting up the tree before that dog had a new home. when you climb the tree and dont find anything, its hard to make excuses for the dog.lol i wouldnt climb a tree now if there was a coon as big as a elephant in it lol.

If it's October I need to be toting two or three out if I walk to a tree. I cut a break in Feb or March and settle for one after a good hard race. None is not allowable , giving moon, hollows , rutting nor strutting around, it's not allowable.

lol i hear ya mr. lyle, if a coon makes a scent and my dog smells it, she better be treeing that thing up the right tree by gosh. i dont care if the coons are rutting or on vacation, put that joker up the tree and stay until i get my old self to ya. i dont really think thats asking to much out of a dog, it aint like its rocket science lol.

Last year my Son wanted us to start coonhunting again we hunted when he was just 2 and 3 and remembered me carrying him into the woods to the tree My son's name is Walker so even though we used to hunt english he wanted a Walker dog so we bought him a lil gyp dog at St Jude to start working with and a few weeks later bought an older gyp to run with her . We had fun at the end of the summer and early fall . Seen a few coons but most of the time we just couldnt shine the tree with all the leaves. Well school started back and then deer season rolled around and we didnt run them dogs pulled em out early Jan. first night old gyp went 20 yds into woood treed like crazy thought oh yea here we go went to tree slick turn her out again went down creek treed a den took em home the young dog just ran around like an idiot. My son and I took them dogs out every night that week made a lot of trees never saw a coon . I told my husband that the dog was crazy So when he got off that fri we took her to really good place and turned her out made 5 trees in an hour all slick . Thats when we realized she was prob slick all those times I thought the leaves was keeping me from seeing the coon . Needless to say those dogs got sold and I went and bought me a couple english dogs and We are having a ball with them . Just like old times. I am sure there are good and bad in every breed and a lot of it is who trains the dog not the color of their furr.

Walkers are all around better for me louder mouth, tree harder and the right bloodline knows how to get to the tree, the bad things that have turned me away from the english breed from the ones i've hunted with is they have weeker mouths, they babble like crazy and/or they put way to much mouth on the track, but i'd take either breed if its a coondog!!!

I think english have a much colder nose. Walkers are way earlier starters though, unless you get a way above average english. But I will hunt either breed.
