Puppy Litter question

We (hopefully) are getting ready to have a litter of pups...if she got bred she just got bred like 2 weeks ago...anyway i was wondering what the best thing to start doing for her would be...when we know for sure that she took...i was reading the other article on this but it was mostly just talking about the milk replacement...this is our first litter ive had all other kinds of babies(goats, horses, rabbits, cows and pigs) but no puppies so i just need some advice...THANKS

Ive used the k9 puppy gold powder and mix wi/ mom's food starting now. it will help w/ milk production and all. I have done that for last 2 litters and pups were all fat and sassy.

i keep feeding the puppy gold to mom and then when pups are started on mush, that is part of the mix, along w/ ground puppy food and baby rice cereal. Im gonna get some powdered milk or esbilac to mix w/ mush instead of water. might work better.

Pregnant

Give geritol every otherday, up to the first line on liquid cap. I used to lose many pups in first three days with a few born dead. Now all are big and Full of life when born. Works great

directions say 1 scoop per cup of food, but i cut it back, she turned up her nose. I use 1/2 scoop and i only increased her feed during the last 2-3wk before birth. she didnt gain a lot of weight (she quit eating some too). she didnt "look pregnant" until the pups started growing. I showed her in a show and said she was prego and ppl looked at me funny!

Don't over supplement! If the mother is healthy and worm free at the time of breeding then you should have some healthy pups. If you're planning on giving her the puppy gold that's all I would give her, other than the occasional spoonful of cottage cheese. When the pups are born, you can start worming them around 2 weeks old.

Pups

If u doover supplement which u won't her body will just eliminate. I have raised pups for over 25 years. The dog food now basically no matter what you feed doesn't carry all nutrients needed. Now please no bashing, most just don't know what they are talking about anyway. Lastly women take prenatal vitamins while pregnant. No DR "says don't worry just eat healthy that will do you just fine"

Starting about 3 weeks prior to welping date I have had good success going to twice a day feedings. Give your bitch about 2/3 of what you are feeding now 2 seperate times daily, this will increase the total amount you're feeding by 1/3. If she doesn't eat it all cut back a little, most females will eat what they need. Doing this will give the bitch the extra calories she needs without making her uncomfortable. You can suppliment too, just make sure that she doesn't start to gain weight (fat) as this will make it harder for her to deliver. Make sure to give her exercise too, sitting around in a pen for 2 months waiting to welp does not do her any good. I have actually hunted bred bitches up untill a week before their due date, not hard hunting mind you, but a drop or 2 just so they get some conditioning.
Make sure that you have a clean, dry area where you can control the temperature for your bitch to welp in. Puppies do not deal well with either moisture or cold, but excessive heat isn't good either. About 75 degrees seems to be ideal for both the bitch and the pups in my experience. There are numerous threads I've seen on here about building a good welping box. Although I have welped dogs in the house when it was necessary it is a lot of work keeping this area clean for 3-4 weeks. Just something to keep in mind.
Figure out where you plan to keep the pups once weaning time rolls around. If you need to construct something it's better to get that done ahead of time rather than in a rush when the time comes.
