i findly got fed up and i am now starting to build me a top storage dog box out of some old selfes that i had in the shed and afther i get done i'll put up some pictures of it.but i'll get some of it right now to show you what it looks like.but i got it 39 inches wide x 40 inches long and about 28 inches tall and the top storage is goin to be full and about 5 inches deep hopefully if not i'll figure something out. but i'm goin back out right now and start building some more so wish me luck and hope that it turns out pretty good

ok here a update on my box i almost finshed with the sides and top but i'm goin in the morning to get some more ply wood.but when i get it finshed i'll take and make it where it can be a summer and winter box.i got some of that thin instalition to put between the sides and and the inter wall. and then i'm goin to go get some handels and vents to put on it and figure out how to cut the sides so i can put the vents in.but i'll figure it out tho and when i get it done i'll put some pictures on here to show you what it looks like. and i might take and make some more but i don't know how much it is goin to cost but it looks really good tho

it's going to be sturdy. if you cover it with treated plywood, it should last a long time. i hope you will round off the corners and smooth the edges on those metal pieces. i'd hate for you or your dog to get cut. i like seeing one thing used for something else. i'm always looking for alternative used for things. good work!

yea i'm goin to take and sand down the coners and then paint it where it won't rust to bad.but i was thinkin on painting it white or silver where it won't conduct heat to much to the box. but it's goin a sturdy littel box thats for sure.but i'm still thinkin on putting some vents in the side so it will get some air flow threw it .but i'll figure out something on the air vents i got some high speed drill bits i might just cut a line where i can get a sawzall in there to cut the outline for the vents.but i'm still trying to figure out what to use for the top storage lid tho i was thinking about some 1/2 inch think peice of steal for the lid. but i might just take some of the sleves i got left and take and weld them togetaher or sometihng. and make a lid for it but i'll just have to figure that out when i get the rest done on it.

well i figured out where to put my vent at on the box and thats in the back of the box where the air will flow real good threw it durin the summer and then close it off when it gets cold outside. i seen where on these other boxes that the vents is on the side and it really don't help the dog all the much.but if i put the vent dead center where it's equal on each side the dogs would be cool and not hot all the time. and that way when the air goes in it goes out the doors on it and keep the air flowin threw it and the dogs stay cool and stuff.

vents at back: if the box butts up to the front end of the bed there wont be much air flow. if you can do it, put one vent in the back of each and on the side of each. dont want to get stuck in traffic and dog overheat. another thing you can do is ( we did this) get some of the clip on fans and change the ends from plugs to a cigarette ligher plug or gator clips. then you can clip the fans on the vents and plug in or take a car battery and clip on to it and when ur parked the dogs will still get airflow. works great on hot still days. also one of the pop up tents over ur truck will help with heat while parked.
