make redtick its own breed

i know everything started from english and im not saying do away with english,i just think redtick should have its own breed aswell.the walkers and blueticks do even though there are both in the english breed.
english could have all colors in its breed and redtickis be redtick, why cant redticks have its own breed like blueticks?

that would be like splitting up the walker breed between the open spotted and the blanket backs, the all blue blueticks from the tan or cream trimmed blueticks or the buckskin plots from the brindle... its about the breed not there color.

as a long time english owner(since 1983), i give this a screaming NO!

i don't raise many litters, but the best i ever raised was out of 2 redticks, the pups- 4 blueticks and 2 black and white.

Id say that the breed is so screwed up that it is just best left alone we dont need two of them I mean there have been so many single registered walkers and blueticks crossed into the breed now that you dont know what your getting You can breed two red ones and get blue and black and white How would you make a new breed register half a litter that were red as redticks and register the other half english when they are out of the same parents?

breed redticks to redtick and over time u will get nothing but redticks, until then let the off colored be registered as english.i agree that there has been alot of mixbreeding and the only reason an english breeder doesnt want this is because thier would finally become a true redtick instead of the ones breeding walkers into them and calling them fullblood.if they cant make the breed atleast get rid of single registration.you cant single register a english as a walker so why should the english breed be able to borrow [single register] a walker as english to better the breed? i know im going to hear walkers were once english and the walkers introduced 3 to 7 generations back dont matter anymore, well if they didnt you woundnt still be getting walker looking english and if they didnt matter then niether does walkers coming from english 60+ yrs ago.you also cant tell me walkers arent still being put in the english bloodline,i got one half walker now that looks just like a redtick.i geuss these half breed walkers will allways be mixed and a redtick will never get its oppritunity.atleast take away the single registry so the english breed will have to fend for itsself.i know walker has a single registry aswell but atleast they have to look like a walker.

Redtick is just a color of an English Coonhound just has English Bluetick is a color of an English Coonhound.

A Redtick is not it's own breed -- just a coloring.

Bluetick Beagles, Redtick Beagles, Black and Tan Beagles, Tri Color Beagles, Lemon Beagles, and etc... are colors of a Beagle.............Not all seperate breeds.

Same applies to the English.

ABSOLUTELY not. English is the breed, redtick is a color within the breed.

I certainly have raised many English pups. Most of mine come redticked. But, I have always bred for abilty first and foremost and as long as my pups meet the English standard for color, they suit me fine. I would hate to pass up on an English bluetick stud that had the traits I want in my strain of English because he would throw some bluetick pups. Some of the VERY BEST English I have owned or hunted with were blue English.

so your saying bluetick isnt its own breed? its just a color of the english? bluetick breed was established it produced some culls for a while, known as redtick.and yes from what ive read about the history the only breed that hasnt come from english was a plott. i really dont care what color an english is,i think they need to quit allowing single registered walkers in the english bloodline, they dont allow english into the walkers.i also think a redtick deserves it own registry.

niterage727, Re-read my quoted post. Your putting words that I never said.

English Bluetick is an English Coonhound. Bluetick in the name is coloring.

Redtick is an English Coonhound. Redtick in the name is the coloring.

A Bluetick English is an English Coonhound............The American Bluetick is a different breed.

I wish people would also quit breeding walkers and english and registering them as english. The english breed dose not need any help from any breed.

Anybody that has ever judged a show will tell you to leave it as it is. Besides having to learn another standard, the paperwork just went up even further in writing up your winners. At large shows, i have witnessed the judge taking as long as an hour and more to get done with the paperwork. JMO

Could you Please Show Where your History Lesson Came From ??

Or this should be very easy to Find (If your History Lesson Tells you)

? Where Has a Treeing Walker Ever been Developed from a " English Coonhound Blood Lines "

Heres the thing the guy that started this post thinks that english that are not Redtick colored are a crossbreed. I have been goin round and round with him on some other sites. He thinks that the blue ones have to have bluetick in them and the black and white ones Have walker in them. He dont seem to understand that all english hounds have the genes to produce every color allowed. Even if they are both redticks. He is a walker hunter. For some reason he thinks that the english of today are still a bunch of single registered mix breeds. If they are not REDTICK.
