Might as well get a thread started now for the stories, pics, and over all breeze shootin. I don't know what it is about hide season, but year after year I always get a little pep in my step for opening night, and this year is no different. "Convienently" the WI DNR wants us to get rid of the deer population, or so it seems, and around my area there is an early rifle season this weekend, but doe/less than 3" of bone only. I for one am not a fan of said early season, however, it has made it easier to get my bow out of the truck and put the dog box in. No sense in bowhunting this weekend if you havta wear orange and can't kill Bullwinkle if given the chance.

Not like I'm looking to rid the area of coon, but it's nice to legally be able to work with the younger dogs and bring along new people to the sport and get them addicted. I know of all the people that have wanted to go with me, they all want to wait till the end of October so they can pull the trigger. That's what its all about though.... Everyone stay safe and let the good times roll........

Nobody wants to go coon hunting with me during the off season, so i just always hunt alone. First thing this morning a"buddy" sends me a text "hey is anyone going with you tonight? ill go with you if you want." Hmmm, let me think about that, um NO. Go find your own land to hunt lol. Everyone wants to be your buddy during kill season LOL!

NOT A COMPITITION DOG JUST ONE THAT WILL RUN AND TREE ITS OWN COON AND STAY TILL YA GET THERE AND OH YA NEEDS TO BE TRASH FREE.... We all are chompin' at the bit and the dogs have been keyed up and mouthy all day! "Save it for midnight!", I keep yelling at them. They know what's going on.

I sure wish the wind would die down a little, though. They're calling for 40 mph gusts.

As windy as it is staying home may not be such a bad thing. Went out bowhunting and I think the wind is blowing harder now than when I went out.

Treed 5. Shot first and last coon treed and another that Bentley slipped off and treed by himself split, however that one is still about 25 ft up in the tree. Came home with 2 hides. Lookin forward to dark again already. It will be nice to get out a little earlier tonight.
