We have a jet/rambo breed male at the house that we wouldnt be afraid to put up against anything! Hes and all around nice hound that trees coon every night you cut him loose! Rain, snow, 90 or -10 he can do it. If he was a better strike dog there wouldn't be much holding him back. BUTTT he is tight tight tight on the ground!

I haven't hunted every line out there but out of the ones I've tried Echo bred hounds suit me the best. Get gone, get struck , and get treed quick as possible. Most are not for the faint at heart.

There isn't a top line of bluedog or a best line that stands out above the rest. Bottom line they all have some good and bad to offer each other. Best thing to do is if you find one that is puttin traits in pups that you like and is producing the right kind to win reguardless how he's bred get some off it or try some of it don't be afraid to try something cause it's not old such n suchs's line. Line breed blindiness is the biggest problem in the bluedog breed. The guys that are and have been successful at breeding top notch hounds are the ones that take their line and step out of the box and find the ones that compliment their hounds. I've seen some guys on here say oh this is the best line then a year later say oh i got one out this one by god this is the stuff and then another year later have something else from another line and say this line is great. What's that tell ya. Tells me they all have something to offer it's are job to do the math and try to improve the breed as whole and if you like a certain line that's great but don't be afraid to intergrat something different into it. That's JMO.

There is no best in any breed. There is a best for how you like your hounds to be. A person would have to know what you like in a hound and had hunted with a lot of differant liines to answer your question.
I have one out of Nothern Blue Son. He is a nice dog all around except he is to hot nosed for the hot dry summers here. Up north or in swamp he would be a top hound that handles like a dream.
I had a pup a few years back out of Bullet II. He was all I would want in a hound for his age but I had to sell him.
The old Smokey River hounds I have seen are good cold nose dogs and accurate but a little slow for comp.

I got a male out of Son.. He's not a cold noised hound that boo hoos around . He can work a mediocre to bad track and get it going in a fair amount of time. He's really not a hot noised dog. Anyway he suites me just fine.. My bitch is Spanky and Rambo, I'm gonna cross her to Blue Iron Brummy this spring , Then next spring back to my male.. I'm gonna keep a pup or 2 out of each cross and then breed half brother and half sister.... Who knows what that will turn in to, but I'm gonna give it a try.

I compare them becouse they are the ones I have hunted the most of. Them and B&T's are all I have ever owned. This guy was asking about what bluetic line we liked or what was the top line right now and that is asking for opinions.
Didn't bad mouth any thing. The top line in any breed is up to what you like in your hound.

There would be no compareing my blue dog to my walkers becouse they are completely differant kinds of hounds. You could probubly get the same differances with in the same breed if you wanted to spend the time to search them out.

I think Jet/Rambo line myself. There are more that suit folks just fine and even put out nice consistent dogs, but I like these bred dogs when done right. I have a Rambo/ old Hammer bred gyp from Otter Creek that is a ball of fire. She is young and I am really gonna start putting it on her now deer season is about to go out but she is nice and has some nice litter mates. Mark Willcox who I got her from line breeds Rambo dogs and has produced alot of nice hard going, cold nose, get gone, get treed type dogs. I also really like what I have seen out of some of the Jet dogs like Blue Iron Brummy. Im gonna keep watching what he produces and maybe breed my Rambo gyp to her later on as he has crossed really well on one already and has very similiar traits to the type of dog Molly is and her ancestors were.

I prefer Jet and Hammer bred dogs and have liked what Brummy has produced when crossed on a Rambo bred female. I hunted with Tommy Higgins Molly female and she impressed me. She's Bullet and Echo bred.

Also the stuff Russ Downing has been breeding for years is good stuff, I drew his Patch dog at Bluetick Days and liked what I saw.

Not sure there is a "best" but a preference for certain people.

I agree Clide! A guy almost has to look at the UKC world hunt since its considered the top UKC hunt. We could go by bboa days Jet 9 won it,hes jet bred, king and queen at roundup? Jet and hammer bred.top bluedogs in world hunt were echo bred,in all reality only way to prove a top hound or line is to spend the green and compete!

Yep. For the record I'd like to try an Echo bred dog.

I must of missed the memo about having big money or lots of money to own one them top notch dogs. Considering i get most of my free. Of course they are Rattler and Bullet bred and are ugly as sin but i did see where some of them do pretty good in some bigger hunts. Maybe some guys with these lines take the time and make sure they put them in the right hands like guys and gals that will compete and finish them out in the woods could be why some guys show up and they say just take one and hunt him cause they know you'll finish him out. Heck you could have the best stud best line best of everything you put them in wrong hands no one will ever know you or your dogs exist. Just a thought.
