moonlit night hunt

Well turned the hounds loose tonight. First drop dogs hunted out real good but never struck for a long time. Young English gyp of a friends struck and ran something out of the country. While trying to get higher to here her we heard Bo locate and lock down treed (no track) i figured this was no good. Headed toward him and by the time we got there hehad pulled the English dog in to him. Treed on a Cedar on the road bank with an albino mange tailed coon!!! ;-) Next drop we turned loose on a creek. Dogs struck and worked and worked finally heated up and ran it like they was looking at it. Settled on tree and headed to them. Treed on the steepest billygoat ridge in the county!! When we got to them was treed on a den. Loaded up and headed home since it was almost 1. All and all i was satisfied since Bo hadn't been off the chain in almost 3yrs. Couple more hunts and he will be back to himself ready to show my pup what needs to be done!

Moon ?

Went out on Monday night, didnt think I would do any good with the moon up and cold.....First tree the 6yr old made had 3 coon on the outside of a HUGE BlackOak........turned loose again in a large section and never drew a bark.....came home.

On Wrdnesday we took the 6yr old again, first tree was a slick, the next tree she had 4 coon on the outside, one bailed out and she caught it on the ground and then another bailed out but we let it go..... not a bad night, had fun...................Tim

Made 5 den trees & 2 holes in ground in 3 hours. Saw 3 coon in them, but couldn't get them out. Great hunt for conditions. Take care, Ron.

two on the outside last night, one peeking out of a hole. couple more legit dens. couple that looked like they had been feeding on the ash trees. I see squirrels eating those seed pods all winter, I assume the coon must too.
