should run its course in 10-14 days. Nothing really helps at this point. No big deal

you can give antibiotics but I agree it kinda has to run its course one thing that I do think helps a little is to put a very small amount of bleach in their water. The worst thing is that it's VERY contagious and all Your dogs may get it before your through !

A couple things that have helped me in the past....

-Putting about 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in my 5 gallon water buckets. Some dogs have to be worked up to this amount slowly, others will still drink right away with the entire amount. Seemed to help with keeping it from spreading when started as soon as I noticed a dog was sick. Whether that is what actually helped or not, ACV is GREAT for a number of other health issues as well. Mine get it in their water throughout most of the year.

-Giving the dog a tablespoon of honey will help with his cough. When the dog I bring inside had kennel cough, I'd give him a tablespoon before bed and that usually helped him sleep through the night without hacking.

These days ANY dog that I plan on taking anywhere outside my kennel gets an intranasal kennel cough vaccine about every 6-8 months. It isn't terribly expensive, and it's fairly easy to vaccinate the dog yourself at home. I'd rather take the time and trouble for that extra bit of prevention than try to deal with kennel cough in all my dogs here....

Kennel Cough

The honey and apple cider vinegar is like a miracle cure for a cough my GrNt had less than a week ago. I noticed it on Friday. Little more on Saturday and on Sunday he was hacking pretty good. I gave him the honey immediately and put apple cider vinegar in all the water buckets, including the house dogs. I treated him with two table spoons of honey twice a day and put the acv in everytime I change water daily. I have had NO cough or hack since Monday. Yesterday, he let out a bellow at me when I pulled in from work and I expected a little hack after he barked at me when I got home....NONE!!!! I was fairly concerned as I have two 3 month old pups in the kennels. You can bet everytime one of my dogs start hacking I will be dosing with honey and apple cider vinegar.
