When my father in law and i were training my young walker pup she was the same way. So we always had to try to get her really excited and it started working so we just kept after it for awhile and now she is a freak when she can smell it but when she cant she wont say a word. Best of luck with your pup

it's just age and personality-different for different pups.

the best way is to get them to see caged coons, especially if you can put them with another dog tht barks hard at caged coons. that will teach them to get fired up over them and that they are to bark at them.

roll cages are great also.

Just give it time. It's rare that they'll ever open on a drag and only bark up at hides a little at that age.

Spring will be here before long, she'll be doing better then/
