Looking at a cabin near there.. How is the deer, rabbit, squirrel and coon hunting there ???? If it is what I think it is I would like it.. Also out of state licenses for hunting and fishing do you know the cost ??

All populations are really good around this area. I live about 10 minutes from Tappan

my daughters and son in laws want a get away about 1 hour away, so the wife and I mentioned the Tappan Lake area.. We go thru there going to Sugarcreek / Amish Country and it seems great.. Pap and Grandma will help out a little to get some hunting / fishing privledges....

This is my home base, where I grew up! My parents live at the end of Tappan Lake, opposite from the dam end. I never hunted growing up (am now attempting to become a bird hunter with my GSP's) but I know my brother has great luck with deer and has gotten some monsters in the area. I can vouch that it's gorgeous all around the lake, and not too populated.

Sara, we are going to look at a place within a mile or two of your folks then... It is close to the dam end of the lake.. It may or may not work out... regardless it will make for a nice day in nice country...

Wayne, check to see if Moraine State Park has any cabins available. It's about an hour from you.

Plenty of good hunting for all those critters. I could even show you some spots. And no out of state license, etc.

I need a general license 125.00 plus a deer permit 24.00 and a furtakers permit 15.00 ???? or can I just buy a furtaker and skip everything else if I only coonhunt ????

i live about 5 miles from the lake and hunt coon there alot but thats about it. hills,briars,and rough country but plenty of coon. i took randy reynolds from arkansas to some spots one night last week and he said if he had to hunt terrain like that he would quit huntin......lol

there seems the same as I have here... We have lined up some places to look at on Saturday.... I've never spent any time at the lake only driven thru on 250... It looks great, and seems well maintained... Never took my girls to Amish Country, we will see if they fall in love with it like their Mom has...

I have a friend that lives 30 mins from that area. He has permission on quite a bit of land around the lake that i have hunted with him, always have had good luck around that area.

were not impressed with the backwoods cabin / house trailer.. It was just too far back in on a bad road.... Looking around Leesville and Atwood Lakes also..
