you turn the dogs to the right of the road but the guide says that they can not go to the left . the dogs get in the woods and 2 go the direction they are suppose to go and 2 come back and try to cross the road . The question is what do you do . Your not suppose to handle your dog but they cant cross the road . Also the 2 that went the right direction are opened and working a good track .

do you call time out because 2 of the dogs will be in danger .

Uhhh, I don't think you can command that dogs hunt in a specific direction. I have been on drops where the guide said we need to turn them this way but if the other way is seriously off limits, dropping there should not have been an option in the first place.
As for what do you do? Well assuming we have a hunting judge, timeout cannot be called without a majority, no exceptions. So if those two who have dogs going the right direction don't vote to call time, then the other two are just s.o.l.

The judge can call a time out at anytime! You don't vote for a timeout. We all have places that we hunt and need the dogs to go a certain way(houses, livestock, roads, posted land). I will not lose any of my hunting spots or risk my dogs safety because you don't want to call a timeout. Sportsmanship!

If the other way is posted and off limits, be realistic, either call time out or just catch the two dogs and turn them back in the right direction. You don't scratch a dog if the handler catches it as it comes onto a busy road just because time out has not been called.

Judge or majority of cast if hunting Judge is used,
may call time out When dogs are getting on highway, trail onto
posted land or trail into a place where there is danger
to dogs or hunters.(key words judge or majority of cast)

Calling time out takes the majority of the cast. Sportsman ship says call time out. There are judges out there that will and have scratched dogs that were handled on a BUSY road. Not all people are sportsmen.
In the original question you don't even know if the judge's dog was one that was okay and Judge refused to call time out. It said guide.Guide and judge may not be the same person. the sportsmanship thing to do would be to call time majority okays, rules also agree. If I were guiding and it was my dog that started going the wrong way I'd tell the cast, timeout or I'll withdraw and they could find another guide I'd also tell them I was the only one that had permission on that side of the road and anyone else caught on there without me would be arrested. I never said I wouldn't use a little persuasion. LOL!

I am a master of hounds and at every hunt when I read the pre hunt speech there is a reminder that it takes a majority to call time out when hunting judges are used.Again in this situation sportsmanship needs to come into play.I have always when about to turn loose in one of these type spots is everyone agrees that if a dog goes into the "off limit" spot time out will be called if someone has a problem with that at least you have it handled before dogs are cast and you can move if need be,before its a real problem cause someone is struck.
