My son is coming back from Iraq. He has been there a year and is coming home safe and we are just thankful. My other boy spent almost 2 years there as a sniper when they first went in. He made it home with nothing but emotional scares. It could have been a lot worse. There are a bunch of our boys that will not come back and I truly feel for their loved ones. I had two that went and come home safe. I’m just really thankful and wanted to share with everyone. Thanks.

As a Desert Storm and OIF Veteran I am glad they are safe and sound and proud they are defending our country like I once did. Tell them not to be afraid of the Veterans Affairs (VA) as far as counseling goes if they truely need it. So many young men don't use these resources because they are afraid of the stigma that could be attached. There is no shame in seeking counseling, the combat zone exposes you to things that the average person could never imagine and sometimes the mind has a hard time processing those experiences.

Thanks guys it means a lot. The one coming home now seems ok. They have mostly been wrapping things up over there. They get mortared a lot but he seems ok with it. The oldest one as a sniper saw a lot of combat. A LOT and he came back seemingly ok but within a few months it was obvious that he wasn’t he has PTSD pretty bad. He couldn’t be around crowds, blacked out, was extremely suspicious of people he didn’t know that were on cell phones things like that. He is doing much better now he can handle the crowds and isn’t on high alert all the time. But he went over there as a kid that was kind of happy go lucky and now he has a few anger issues. I just wish all these people going on about their everyday lives would know more what it takes for them to be able to do that.

Thats great Joey! Tell them both thanks and give them a hug from me. I remember when my son came home how excited we were. It is a great moment of joy and relief. I hope you and your family enjoy it. We have been through the PTSD and physical injuries side of it too. Hopefully the other son gets the help thats available to him and lives a good life.
