First night huntin and BROKE

Boys this is one i'll never forget. I've been datin this girl for about 4 or 5 months and she's kinda city slicker. She kept tellin me she wanted to go coon huntin so tonight i loaded her up. After all the trick or treating things with the church we went and cut the ol' dog loose and took off walking down in this valley by the lake. He struck and went outta hearin and just barely heard an echo of him about three ridges over on the other side of this little cut back of the lake. we took off through a clear cut took she didn't have nothing but a mag light that was death suckin on a life saver and after about 30 or 40 minutes of walkin we got to the tree and it was a big ol den. she looked at me with a heart broke face and said what now i said well let's go back to the truck. The GPS told us the wrong directions for about a half a mile and took us through a even worse clear cut with briars. finally made it back to the truck and were both in college and got class tomorrow and she said i got home work can you take me back! I about lost it laughin i may not have a Girlfriend tomorrow but she'll never forget the first time she went huntin.

I will share with you all about the first time I took my fiance out.

I had been asking her to go with me for several months and one night 2 years ago during coon season she agreed to go with me. Well we turned my female loose on a cold full moon night. She went in there about 400 yards and struck and ran a short track to a huge hollow beach den. We walked in there and i started looking in it when all the sudden about 6 cur dogs showed up at the tree. I looked around and seen a few lights coming toward us.

Well I had no idea who it could have been and I didn't feel very comfortable with several guys I didn't know coming up on me with my fiance. So I told her we needed to get gone and get back to my truck. Well when we started jogging back to my truck she was all nervous and dagon it if them dang curs (all 6 of them) didn't follow us all the way to my truck. And i think the owners thought I was trying to steal them because as we were jogging away they were also jogging after us. We got back to my truck and them dang curs followed us all the way out of that mile long lane step for step.

Needless to say she hasn't been out since I told her we needed to get outa there because I didn't want whoever it was with the curs knowing I was in there but that wasn't the case.

Took mine the other night for the first time. Cut quick loose and she put one up at about 100 yards. Privet so thick but the coon was looking down. She said she love going and wants to go again.

My wife and I went a couple times before we got married. But her last time to go was after we were married. My truck was at a neighbors getting worked on. I was sitting on the back porch and she came out and said you realy want to go coon hunting don't you. I sad yes and she suggested we just hunt right there. I have about seventy acres behind the house but there is a fairly busy road beside it so I hardly ever hunt here. Anyway, I turned one dog loose and we sat on the back steps. Sure enough it treed in a dry pond. I realized my rifle was in the truck so I grabbed a 16 guage and some 6 shot. She was saying it was easier than driving ten miles to hunt and then jokingly asked if I was realy coon hunting because sometimes I did not get any. We found the coon and first shot it jumped out looking to fight and the dog was not much of a kill dog. After what seemed like an eternity of the dog crying for mercy and then the coon screaming bloody murder back and forth I could finally get ahold of the ankles and whacked its head on a tree. That did it for her. She never went again.

Love this post!!! As I write this Im pregnent and due Dec. I met my husband at a night hunt. Or dads hunted together when we were little and we spent nights sleeping in the truck. A friend of our dads set us up he hired each one of us to start a pup for him and insisted they be hunted together. Now we are married and have a four year old daughter. Me and her hunt three to four nights a week to keep the dogs in shape since he drives truck and can only hunt weekends. There are some nights though that we probley wish the other did not hunt.
