Making progress with a young dog

Made two short drops tonight and came up blank. It was such a nice night I just couldn't take getting skunked. I wanted to go to one of my old faithful places but knew there was a dead deer there and figured it was good and ripe about now.

Decided to drop from a different place on it in hopes they would go a different way and luckily they did.

On the drop they headed out together which is odd. I could tell they got on a track fairly quick and Sa hit up at 403. I started in to them and half way there stopped and noticed Ty wasn't barking. I looked at the Garmin and he was at 750 and showing treed but not barking. Just about the time I started back walking he treed. I saw eyes in Sa's tree on the way in but this was Ty's first split tree and he was still holding pressure from her being treed. I wasn't about to push my luck and test him by shooting the coon out so I patted her up and sent her on to him. He had two coons up so they got to chew on one.

I headed back to the truck calling myself all kinds of stupid for forgetting my bag to carry the coon in and being real happy with Ty. With them right with me. Loaded the coon up and next thing I knew no dogs. I looked on the garmin and they were 500+ yards right in the general direction of where the dead deer is. I was pissed, I got in the Sammi and drove as close as I could get to them and when I got out they were treed less than 200 yds. :icon_smoke: It was a big red oak full of leaves and I didn't see anything on it. All in all I had a great night.

Yeah. probably roll eat a gut full of it. And what worries me the worst is people hate 'yotes so bad here I am afraid they would put stuff out to kill them.

I cringe everytime I come up on something dead in the woods for fear some of these dummies have laced it with some bad stuff.
