Lost Garmin

Me and my son took our 11 month old Cutter pup out last night. I like to see what she is doing on the Garmin so I keep it out alot. She treed and I went to her packing the Garmin in my hand. When I got to shining the tree I noticed my Garmin was gone. We looked around the tree but couldn't find it. I was about sick at losing it and didn't know what to do. I had came through a standing corn field and knew I would't be able to trace my steps. My son said can we make it beep. We got the pup away from the tree to keep her quiet. we turned the collar off hoping to hear it beep when it lost signal. Nothing. We turned the collar back on and heard it beep. We moved closer to the sound and turned the collar off and back on again and found it right in front of us. Feeling alot of relief we thanked God for answering our prayers and went home. Has anyone else had this to happen? Is there a better way to find them?

Try a lanyard

When I had my 220, I took the little hand strap that came with it and put on a key ring with a snap. I carry mine in my chest pocket on my vest. I hooked the snap to a button hole on my vest. More than once, I found the 220 dangling. With the 320, I have a heavy string that is just barely small enough to thread through the opening and put the string around my neck.

I did the exact same thing with the lanyard and keyring and snap and I also put reflective tape around the antenna and on the flat spots of the handheld in the automotive aisle at walmart they have rolls of very thin but durable reflective tape, it only costs $2.00 per roll and is flexible enough to wrap around antennnas, I also do this on my collar antenna

I think the Garmin should have been designed with an alarm that would sound if it has been on for about thirty minutes but had been stationary for that amount of time. The alarm could even sound if it was dropped, and lost satellite coverage for thirty minutes or so.
Not an alarm like they currently have that goes through that little speaker but something louder.
I don't know about you guys but I tend to move so much that the alarm would almost never go off on my Astro and if it did, no big deal, just press a button to deactivate the alarm just like pressing a button activates the lamp.

I have lost a 220 and man was i pissed. I know have it on a laynard and keep it in my chest pocket and have also put reflective tape on it. I would think that garmin could come up w/ a way for the unit to transmit a signal, ebven if they charged for the service it would be worth it. Found this device on another site.

The Gear Keeper is made to keep your Astro, handheld radio, or any other item you don't want to loose with you where it belongs. You can set the distance to activate the alarm from 0-80 feet. It is ready to protect you from loosing hundreds of dollars in equipment. If you drop your device the reciever will virabrate and beep alerting you.it also has a small red led light so if you drop your device at nite it will be easier to find. This is a small insurance policy for your high dollar toys.

Reflective tape Amen. I have it down the underside of my 22 and try to remember to lean it against a tree 50 to 100 feet before I get to the tree. That way at least I know which direction to head back out because I forget to take a compass reading going in. If I decide to shoot the coon , I always remember to take a reading before I go get it. . OK, you can tell I don't have a Garmin.

I bought a very large fishing shirt with deep velcro breast pockets haven't lost a 220, cell phone or pop lens cover since But i do have a double lenght lanyard on 220 I have to hold 220 way out to be able to read it, **** old eyes of mine. Velcro pockets really help out.
