We had a club hunt last Friday night and I took my Utchman bred young dog.He is a son of Gary's Zeb dog.He is now a year old and what with the heat this summer he had not been messed with since May.I really was not sure what he would do.I drew out with a Black and Tan female and a Walker gyp.On the first turn out the 2 females got it done in about 20 min and and Knucklehead was off cataloging the local vegetation.He finally came to the tree 4 minutes after it was closed.Better late than never I reckon.On the next turn out nothing much happened.We got the hounds gathered back up and at that point we had 14 min left on a 1 hour hunt.We cut the dogs loose and the walker struck real quick with Knucklehead hollering right after her.the race was on.The hounds are trailing and looking good and at the beginning of the race the walker was in front.As the race went on Knuclehead drove that track like Richard Petty and flew past the walker.It took 8 minutes from beginning to end. Knucklehead treed first and the walker was almost 3 minutes behind him.
We closed the tree and went to looking and there it was.His very first.I was grinning from ear to ear.All the while this was going on the Black and Tan was doing something else.Still not sure what.With 6 minutes left we recast em down the creek a piece and they struck and fell treed on a den tree.It was a marvelous evening.
