ND CHA Submits Infrastructure Grant Application to ND Department of Tourism
Today, we submitted an infrastructure grant application in hopes of securing funds to help pay for the cost of finishing our new building in Fort Ransom, ND. This facility is called the Sheyenne River Lodge and is an important part of our strategy to grow membership and overall participation in our events. It also is critical to our ability to host the Annual Raccoon Hunting Sporting Day for youth that happens each August. The application is approximately 15 pages in length. Below is a table of contents for the application and an excerpt of the grant application cover letter. Updates on the status of the grant application will be provided.

Re: Infrastructure Grant Application – Sheyenne River Lodge Project
Dear Ms. Coleman:
Please accept this grant application for your consideration of our Sheyenne River Lodge Project. This project is for water service, electrical service and materials to finish construction of our building located near Fort Ransom. This facility will provide ND CHA a permanent location and allow us to increase the number of events and substantially increase the number of people attracted to our events. It is our goal to complete the facility by August 14, 2010 for our annual youth sporting day.
ND CHA sponsors competition bench shows and hunting events chartered by three national kennel clubs. These are generally two day events that hold people in the area for the weekend of the events. Local purveyors of lodging, food and gas benefit directly from our activities. ND CHA also holds an annual youth sporting day. This building project, even though only partially completed in 2009, helped increase our 2009 attendance by approximately 60 percent over 2008 attendance. 2009 total attendance was approximately 200 people with most of the adult attendees coming from South Dakota, Minnesota and other states including Kentucky and Ohio.
Our total project budget estimate is $26,100. Of this amount, we have already expended $11,300 for purchase of +3 acres land and construction of 24’x32’ foundation and building shell. We also have $5,000 in the association’s cash building account dedicated for this project. All of our funds were raised through the efforts of many dedicated club members over many years of effort, and most of the labor to complete the project is provided by volunteers. ND CHA respectfully submits a request in the amount of $9,800 for infrastructure grant funds to complete the Sheyenne River Lodge Project. Our project details and budget are fully explained in our application materials. Please contact me if you have questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
North Dakota Coon Hunters Association
