Quality of the dogs in local hunts.

Am I the only one that is seeing a trend of people bringing dogs to the hunts that are no where close to being ready? I normally only have one dog at a time and the one I have been hunting has been a grand for many years. So I haven't been hunting the local UKC hunts. I've started a new one and what I'm seeing is pitiful. They want stayed treed and they start tracks only to come back. They quit there tracks to cover other dogs its just pitiful. The dog I'm hunting has been in 7 UKC hunts and she has 6 first places and one was dead. She is a decent dog and I like her but she is a far cry from a coon dog at this time in her life. I have seen a few that where nice dogs but only a few.

I'm not saying that these dogs aren't going to make a coondog I'm just saying they aren't ready for the hunts yet. They need more work put in on them.

The one you warned me to watch out for wouldn't hunt. It had to be walked over a track and quit two of those and came back. It made one tree and we couldnt find a coon.

I'm sure it varies from place to place but around here its bad at the moment. I also know that the tough ones don't hunt UKC very long because it doesn't take long to finish them.
