competion hunters

for you competion hunters..what your opinion on resting a dog the night before a competion?
let him rest? or hunt him hard?

depends on the dog. If I'm taking my male to a hunt, I run him at least 3 drops the night before. But I've had others that I'd let rest the night before. They're all different.

I agree that it depends on the dog. I have a female here that it doesn't matter if you hunt her all night the night before she is still going to hunt just as hard. Also have a male that i like to give a couple days off before a hunt.

Depends on the dog like was said....typically I like to lay em up atleast a day...sometime I hunt one or 2 days between mon and wed or Thursday and lay em up till the hunt fri or sat...

Doesn't really matter with the 2 I've ran in nite hunts...but seems if I lay em up a few days they got a little more fire under them...

laying one up

It really depens on how long the trip is. I'f the dog is on the road say, ten hours it's better to turn them loose just maybe one hour to get the soreness out of them. Then, If your like me, you still get beat!!!!!!!!! HA
