Prize Packages??? HB VS. PP

Not to stir the pot but I am curious. How do the prize packages offered at The hunting beagle nationals compare to the ones offered at the Performance Pack Nationals?Same question for the State races ,World Hunt etc. Just curious..

I asked this same question and I will give you my answer I got. HB has been around for 20 years and PP has been around for 5 years roughly. The prize packages will eventually equal out but it will take some time and trust me UKC is working on getting them to be more equal.

I dont know for sure but I think the packages arent nearly as good for hunting beagle as they were years ago.At Nationals a few years ago they had a nice package for all classes. which they should. What is the Prize package now? THe runoff, what prizes and money ,or lack of,do each get. I would like to see them listed side by side if anyone can do that for all the big trials each have.

I think alot of people including myself, feel the prize is being the NATIONAL or WORLD Champion...

A nice trophy and a few beers with my beagling friends has always been enough for me, so anything else is a bonus.. Until a short time back, most AKC clubs only gave a ribbon for your win. Those $2 ribbons sure did mean alot too!

It sure is tuff to keep sponsors donating during these hard economic times at high levels. Each year we all get less for our money and hard work. If the prize packages get a bit smaller, it has nothing to do with UKC or any associations for lack of attention or care.

For anyone who would like to see more.. Dont be afraid to make some contacts, then get them in touch with the proper people to help add to the list of goodies for the big show.

I am not sure about the HB Nationals prize packages but I can tell you that as the 2010 PP Nationals winner I got a subscription to the American Beagler and a G2 Shock collar and I know that this past year they gave G2's to the 1st and 2nd place dogs in each category so that's an improvement. I can also tell you that as the 2010 World Hunt winner I got around $5000 in prizes including an Owen's dog box and a Seneca Kennel. I think they will have a list of prizes for each winner listed at the Nationals or at least they used too.

Thanks for the reply. answered my question.I was just curious.Rick I agree that the fellowship with friends is really the reason we do this. But I can say that given 2 hunts, especially where I live which is really far from all the big events,I would pick the one which would have the opportunity to run for a bigger prize package.I think most people would.I remember years ago at Harry Warnicks club I think it was in rising son md. they gave a year end club award. That was really nice for someone to win.I think at all levels from club to big events ,its nice for the host to offer some nice stuff as an incentive to make their events larger, and offset the rising costs we are all facing by going great distances to hunts.

no handouts for me. lol

i won the pp world in 07 and got two big trophies. the previous year the winner got more i believe. i even remember when someone on the message board asked ukc if they needed them to bring down some dog boxes to the pp world and there was no response from ukc. dont know what happened ,but you would of thought that a world champion would've atleast have received a prize as equal to final 4 winner of the nationals. jmo

Bill, that prize package we use to have was really nice. I'm currently working on a few ideas to get that back in progress. Making a club non profit status 501c helps to with sponsors. As we all know it takes alot of work from dedicated people in this sport, and our club, Cecil County Hounds and Sportsmens Club has these people in place and is growing by the month. Keep an eye out you'll see some prizes coming soon. See ya up in Pa. this weekend.
