Request for Historical article of recognition on Dale Sowder

Interest has been re-generated on an "old Timer" Mr Dale Sowder, one of the oldest and most succesful b/t breeders.

Some posters on this board have expressed interest in learning more about Dale and his many years of contributing to the breed via the "SOWDER" bred hounds.

Those of you who would like to see CB do an article on Dale, can show support in this request by posting your thoughts on this thread in the form of a polite request.

I certainly would be pleased to see this happen.

I, Like John D. previously said. "I count my meeting and talking with Dale Sowder one of the highlights" of my coon hunting career. He's a "for real" guy. No BS, just good old friendly, guy.

Guys, one very important thing Dale has done is kept the tracking ability in his dogs. They can all move a track, cold or warm. Also they are "TREE DOGS" and have pleasing hound type voices. The ones that I've seen have very good confirmation and are intelligent.

Its about time

I think it is about time someone wrote an article on Mr. Sowder, I own a young dog that has some of the Sowder breeding in him and I can say, he is a very nice hound, and doing this article, it would help me and others learn more about Mr. Sowder himself and his line of hounds, and I beleive that what Mr. Sowder has done in the coonhunting world, and with his line of dogs he really deserve the recognition,
That is my opinion,
Thank you

I'll Amen this too !

Mr, Dale Sowder , is one of the all time Great's Breeder ! He is : The man that Bred the right hound's to the right hound's and came up with Balance For competition , and pleasure hunting Black and Tan's !

If it were not for this man , the Black and Tan world would not have had the pleasure knowing alot of the top Reproducing Stud dog's , or top Reproducing Females we have had , past or present ...

James

John, I'm not "rubber stamping" your post, nor rebutting it, BUT an interview witn Dale would certainly bring light to the subject. Then some credits would be shared.

There's "skeletons' in every breeders "closet".

I recall a BNT breeder being awarded "breeder of the year" by BNT assoc. back in '70's whose stud was not even all hound. Another famous one was one fourth shepherd.

What is ,is, but we gotta admit Dale has done great things for the breed. Dale is deserving of this recognition.

Old timers like yourself and Dale have made EVERY breed "what it is" today.

Pulled out some old mags. from dating back to the '60's and many of the "old timers" who contributed so much are "gone and forgotten". Coon dogs are not and "off the shelf" item. Decades have been spent getting "where we are".

John, from reading some of your previous posts; I have no reason to beleive that you are anything but a truthful and honest person. You seem to speak truthfully and BOLDLY.

In my opinion, some of the "impure" crosses of the past eras did improve the breed. I've hunted BnT's for over 40 years and HAVE seen a constant change for the better.

Mr. Sowder obviously did SOMETHING right.

How far do you live from Dale? Maybe next time I visit Dale, we can get together for a 'burger.
