 About the only thing a caged coon is good for is to let the pup get a smell of what it's suppose to hunt.
 
 Alot of young dogs won't bark a caged coon the first time they see it. It helps to have another dog that the pup is used to that will bark at the coon. Once the pup gets fired up at it you can take the older dog away.
 
 I wouldn't do this more than a couple of times though.
