Start shooting a bb gun by her when she is eating. start far away and work up to her. then go to a .22 cb. Then a .22 LR. Just do it slowly and watch her reaction. Do it day after day until she is used to it and she shows no sign of being scared, and keep progressing closer to her. She'll either eat or starve. If she can associate it with something good, like eating, she might come out of it.

Or just don't shoot coons out to her.

do what they said but for future reference - any pups that were raised here don't even bat an eye over a gunshot. there are 3 guys that live in this house and we shoot at pigeons and squirrels all the time and the pups just get used to excessive gun fire

if she is leaving when you are on the way in to the tree, try hunting her with another dog and leave her on the leash and walk her in to the tree to the other dog. Pet her up on the tree, but when it comes time to shoot the coon, ignore her. if she is scared.....just ignore her. if you try and pet her up while the shooting is going on it only reinforces her fear.

keep doing this until she starts getting exciting for the coon to come out, then hunt her off the leash. it's worth a try anyway.

Sounds like she could have other issues causing her to run.

i would say she is light shy.

I haven't done this but my dad said that my granddad did, he would have a gun shy dog and take it out in a boat and shoot. When the dog jumped in the water he would pull him back in the boat. By the time the dog got tired of the in and out of the boat he was no longer gun shy. It worked for gramps.
