Marshall GPS Tracking Systems

Has any heard anything from them yet? I was told they would be at AO, but haven't heard anything else.

We need a GPS tracking system that actually works!

Garmin has took dog tracking to a new level, but its time for somebody new to take us in to the future.

Price isn't even in the equation. many said they wouldn't buy a Garmin, but just how many have been sold.
People can say they won't spend the money but they are lying! If ole Bob down the road can get one, then **** right I want one too. Human nature plane and simple.

Garmins work in progress will be their down fall. Who ever comes out with the latest and greatest will be top dog even if its $1000.00

Marshall web site has the same message it had all summer. I've been wondering if they do make a GPS unit, what mfg. are they using as they never been in the GPS. arena. Maybe they are developing their own and that's what's taking so long. But who knows?

Would be nice if that's the case. It'll be interesting what the final product they come out with will be. I think the product we, as coon hunters need is a real challenge for GPS makers to produce. When you think of what our dogs go through, water heavy brush, undergrowth, and ever thing else it's a real challenge to be able to stand up and also not loose contact. I think Garmin has done a good job with their product as the pioneer in this area. The GPS systems we have now will continue to be inproved on as has all our other equiptment we use. I started with a carbide light and my breaking equiptment consisted of a 3 ft peice of rubber hose and a lot of running. LOL!

I don't think Garmin realized how big the coon hunting market was. I also think they were pushing at the bird dogs not the hounds. When it hit the coon hound market it grew with leaps and bounds where they could not engineer a collar tough enough for the coon hound enthusiast.
Look at the stores thei have targeted for sales, come on Cabelas Do you thiink Cableas targets the coon hunter heck no they don't I am sure they don't think most of us have any money.

Bull look at who they target and who sells them. Bull all the way. covering his butt

I could tie one of my kids phones by verizon to the dog and sign up for the family locator and track them the same way on my own phone, so there are systems already out there. this is how I caught my ex wife cheating on me tracked her with an extra verizon phone.

Marshall

The tracking systems are over priced and I don't know anyone who uses them. I know ALOT of people that do or did ( before Garmin ) use their collars. When Marshall comes out with a GPS unit they will be HIGH priced , but if the collars can be linked up with the Garmin Astro 220 lookout cause it will be hard to beat!!

Actually, Marshall just got the FCC approval...........Can't sell the system until FCC approval..............I look for it around the corner now that the FCC hurdle is completed.

BTW, before you bought that phone, Verizon had to get FCC approval before they sold it.

The Field Marshall and the Garmins hit the market about the same time, so thats why you didn't see many out being used.

If the information I heard is correct, The Marshall will pick up GPS collars as well as the old conventionals. If so, that the number one selling point right there, and not to mention if it has a several mile range like Marshall is famous for.

Again about the price, it doesn't matter, people will pay what ever to have the latest and greatest.

Out west where we hunt biggame in big country Marshalls are VERY VERY popular and known and THE system.

I agree with others, they can charge what they wanna charge and guys will buy it. With as much energy, time and money as we all put into our hounds, guys will pay more...Thats proven

I'm pretty sure the Garmins have only been out a couple 2 or 3 years and the Field Marshall has been out alot longer than that. With jobs like they are in my neck of the woods $$$$$$$ DOES MATTER!! Also in my area if my dog goes farther than a mile to tree a coon , then I'm looking for a new dog , not a tracking system! LOL

I am telling you guys the Garmin was not intended for the coon hunters, have you seen their web site. They have not been waiting for no approvals, it may have been added to their line up. They were going after a totally different markets. Do you see Cabelas, Bass Tracker etc......... selling Wild Life Materials or some of the other radio frequency trackers heck no you don't. These are the basics of Marketing boys. One of the first things of Marketing who are you going to target and whos shelves are you going to put them on. You can believe the Garmin rep if you want but he is All "PR" MAN.

I would rather Buy a GPS from a company like Garmin, that specializes in GPS technology and makes their products affordable to most everyone ; Way before i would buy what will most likely be an overpriced GPS from a company that has never specialized in GPS technology.

Marshall made alot of nice products with high quality but i think Garmin has the upper hand on this GPS situation

Not I !!!! To many hours and money tied up into them, they get out of the pocket in a couple minutes.

I don't believe you will see Marshall try to fabricate a GPS to use. They will most likely be a Lowrance or Magellan receiver with Marshall collars.

Why buy a GPS from a company that doesn't specialize in GPS technology.... Why buy one from a company that just throws it out on the market whether it works or not. Many of us have!

I want to know how you find a dog after the Garmin collar goes dead . How do you track your dog with out a satellite signal? I would hate to depend on one to have to find a hound in adverse conditions. If I wanted to play video games,I'd buy a Playstation. When I need a gadget to tell me what my dog is doing ,then it's time for me to change hobbies. The best use I can think of for a garmin is when they call time out in a cast and you have an hour to retrieve your dog or find your way out of the woods. I don't think Garmin realizes the abuse they go through on a hound. A bird dog rarely gets over a 100 yrds from you if they have been trained properly. Show me a hound that never gets out of Garmin range and I'll show you a hound that needs culled from lack of drive and heart.

I will say I hae used the Garmin Tracker for a couple yrs now & it has worked good up to about 800yrds / I like it but 800yrds range is it most of time around here / I have a Marshal Tracker & Like it good / plenty of range ! If Marshal comes out with a GPS Tracker it should be a good one & sure hope the range is better / I say if a hound cant tree a coon within 800yrds most of time they probly need culled for they are running by them !
