how do you guys know what should be a good night to hunt what make you think before you go hunting that the coons will be moving people. talk about. the moon and about the atmosphere pressure.

usaaly a real moonlight coons still move but a lot of people say they cant tree coons but i always kept tight mouthed hounds never had any trouble treeing coons as far as the winter mons when you are having real cold temps and it comes a good warm up everything moves thats when you should do really do good jmo

I usually try and pay attention to other animals like squirrels, birds, and crows. If they are out and moving during the day coons will be moving at night. A real good sign also is after a bad cold front or snowstorm is the first evening you start seeing deer and turkey moving out into open fields of the evening. If I see that around here in winter I know coons will be moving good.

lol all true statements i have hunted dogs that would tree coon any night and dogs that wouldnt tree one if u gave them a perfect nite..usually they move on changing front nites cold to warm and they seem to move really well on stormy rainy nites. i was in a nite hunt one nite we treed six coon in the middle of a thunder storm of course we were crazy but hey arent we all sometimes .

I watch the weather. Change from good to bad, several days of bad then turning to good. But with that said, had some god hunts when it was ttally oppisite of that. When I am driving to the woods I like to see lots of deer, grinners, skunks, rabbits, etc. I have heard old timers say, never when the wind is out of the east. Who knows. As John Wick says in his books, a bad night hunting still beats setting home watching TV. Drop that tailgate. Them dogs will tell ya.

I agree you don't know intill you go but I have heard of different people say different things about how to patern coons I always just go and see what happens I seas just wonting to hear what some of you thought thanks for all replys

I always hunt by the moon rise and setting. Of course I also hunt when it gets dark. I have found that a lot of coons will move here around nine oclock if there is no significant feed time during the night.

I have found that when I see a lot of possums there wont be many coon moving. But a good dog will find one somehow somewhere.
