"THEY CAN TALK BAD BUT NOT EXPERIENCED IT"

I have fed it exclusively for rite near 20 years. Ya don't see me on here wimperin cuz it is a tad lighter or darker than normal or the dogs are bein picky.

Raise'um from their first taste of mush thru their whole lives on the Green & Yellow bag.

You can pick-up their turds with your fingers & not even get any stuck to you !!

Reasonably priced & readily available. Couldn't even begin to tell ya how many hundreds of bags I've emptied.

I doubt many have the extensive use experience.

My only experience with Diamond is with the Extreme Athlete feed. I fed it to our Kate pup last summer/fall when she was getting hunted very hard and I have been feeding it to my bitch since 4 weeks before she welped and still feeding it to her 3 weeks after welping her litter. Based on how Kate handled the summer heat and 60 some straight nights of hunting and based on how my bitch and her puppies are looking, I will not feed anything else to a dog that is being stressed.

There are several different types available. If you are looking for a good quality feed then go with the naturals as Jim mentioned. The extreme athlete is one of the best foods out there. If its a little too much for your wallet or hard to find check out costco's kirkland brand its made by diamond and has the same ingredients as the naturals blend but is considerably cheaper.

I feed Diamond High Energy. Made the switch from purina about a year ago. Dogs have more endurance and a ton less waste.

up here the naturals runs about $40 and the costco is $25
the couple of places that do carry diamond up here wouldn't go through the extra trouble to order the extreme athlete even though they carried other naturals.

I'm going to tractor supply today getting a bag

I' m feeding sexton bros. Now dog is healthy fat but not muscular, kennel stays a mess craps 6-10 piles a day. My dog is very picky eater, even with sexton bros.I have to flavor with can dog food so to me if he eats the same amount of Diamond by it's self I will save money. I'll keep you updated, on the results

Sportmix 24/20 is what I have been feeding. I had been feeding RAW. I used to have the time to fix up to 4 dogs feed everynight. Now I am down to 1 dog and do not have the time to fix a RAW feed bowl.

I like the price of Sportmix but do not like that it has corn. The closest place to buy better feed is 25 miles away. I factor in gas to buy feed and if I drive my truck I add 10$ to the price of going after better feed. If I drive the wifes car I add 4$ to the price of feed.

The Sportmix does pretty good and the dog looks and acts pretty good. The stool is probably 3x more than feeding RAW. I fed Diamond naturals before I fed raw. I was living in the city and the gas was not a factor. I liked the results I saw feeding the Diamond naturals. If the gas was not a factor... I would definately make the switch to Diamond naturals.

Extreme Athlete is about the only Diamond feed that I'd pay for. Maybe the natural lamb and rice in the off season. They can keep the rest of it. But all dealers are the same....they have various formulas to attract all segments of consumers, even the cheapskates, and then they actually pony up and put a good feed out, EA is it.

lord lord

boys u may have done it and u may have not. but when you switch dog food brands it takes at least 3-4 bags per hound for the dog to get used to the feed. i started feeding hunters special and the bag said to mix in 25/75 for the first few weeks and then go to 50/50 with the old feed. after a bag or so feed nothing but hunters special. when i switced i had more piles of shiiit than carters got liver pills if you know what i mean, once they got used to it 1 pile a day and sometimes 1 pile every two days. feed done fine only thing is if i hunted my older dog 4-5 nites a week for bout a month or so he would look like he came out of the boneyard. tring diamond for now on my first bag, ill let ya know how it does in a month or so. thanks for the input fellows.

Diamond extreme athlete

At tractor supply taxes and all 39.00 Smokey better love it.Lol if nothing else I might give it a try, when I use to work out you couldn't find that kind of protein not eve at Gnc Lol! When I was younger my step dad use to hunt for fur and we skinned every coon, muskrat, fox,ect we had 19 dogs and feed Joy 1 bag every week, he would build a fire and get the water boiling and as we skinned he cooked the critters and feed them to the dogs mixed with very little dog food, man our dogs looked like pits instead of hounds.

Update

I didn't mix 25/75 I went half and half, day one, then 75/25 day two, then today straight Diamond. Results second day 4 piles sorta extra moist, to day for piles a little dryer, water consumption couldn't tell much difference, Smokey likes to play in his water a lot and usually spills the most of it. I feed him the same amount as the sexton bros. It just don' t seem like much food if you follow the directions on the bag? I just like to make sure he always has food by him being a pup and all, he did have some in his bowl this morning from last night that was odd for him he usually has none in the morning, it was about a cup full.

Hey Bo

I always give him two scoops in the morning and two scoops in the evening which is equal to 8 cups a day, On the Diamond he is leaving about one cup to a cup and a half in his bowl so today I am going to give him 3 cups this morning and 2 cups tonite to see how much he leaves in the bowl. Him still being a pup I dont want him to be without food in his bowl at any time so I will try this and see how it goes. If this works the Diamond feed will be saving me 3 cups on the day. Which is saving a lot of feed thata 21 cups a week. Each week I will save enough to feed him for 4 days the next week. It may be cheaper and better, the Sexton brothers 50 lb bag was lasting him about 4weeks. Diamond 40 lb. should last a lot longer if my math is right it should last about 6 weeks. which means my Diamond feed will be close to the same cost the Sexton Bros was and Diamond will be better for my dog, and a lot easier keeping the kennel clean saving me time. So far I'm glad I took the plunge even though this is the 5th day. I'll keep updating changes. The only thing I do different than most is I give Smokey a daily vitamin he gets one everyday, I don't know if everyone gives their dog a daily vitamin or not but I do. It may make a difference I don't know?
