Chelsea, her boyfriend Dalton, and there 5 month old baby (Jeep) were rearended by a semi on 69 hiway south of FT Scott KS yesterday. Chels and the baby were life flighted to St Johns in Joplin Mo from the scene, however the baby was released soon after and Chels is ok considering. She has 1st/2nd/3rd degree burns on her face and hands, a slightly collapsed lung, and a broken collar bone.

They are very lucky to be alive, Dalton remained consence and pulled the others from my burning 4x4. He saved not only his baby, but mine as well.

Thank the coonhunting gods for big azz 4x4 pickups. Had they been in any other vehicle they wouldnt be here now.

This is the second vehicle we have had rearended at that intersection. There is a wreck there once a month or so.

So far everyone is fine. Chels is being kept overnight agian but Jeep and Dalt are released.

Jeep has a knuckle bump on his forhead that just makes him look tough, and Dalt has some bruised internal organs but no bleeding.

They were waiting to turn off of 69 hiway onto a secondary road....a turn I have made with hundreds of casts as there guide, and the semi never saw them untill he hit them. Rearended at 70mph by a freightliner does alot of damage to F250 4x4s but it saved there life. Any other car would have been alot worse.

Chelseas lung is recovering on its own, and only a couple small burns are a threat for deep scarring.

Hope they all heal fast and have speedy recoverys and no longterm afects .that baby sounds tough as nails thats good that he was not hurt that bad . . Well wishes for them from the Melson famaly

Chelsea will be in our thoughts and prayers as well as Dalton and Jeep!!! Chelsea was one of the first kids on here I got to "know" and I became quite fond of her... I will be praying VERY hard for her and Bob and I are glad this accident was not worse!

Man that's good to hear. I hope that she has a speedy recovery the rest of the way through. We here on this board don't agree on much, but we all agree that it's a blessing to hear stories like this! Sure helps to put everything else in our lives in perspective...

glad all are alive and recovering. It seems like yesterday your daughter was only 15 and now I read she has a baby. Time flys. Congrats on that too.

The semi driver walked away too. Said he flat didnt see them. Looked up and it was too late.

TAZ.....ya she is 18 now and i aint real crazy shes grown either :P

Waiting on the surgen atm to see if she needs surgery on her shoulder.

Anybody who has been guided by me or chels to "The Bottems" has made this same turn.
