Pads on a dogs foot.

I was wondering if anyone was having the same problem. I hunted a dog in the snow the other night that had not been hunted in a month. I turned her loose on the 3 rd drop and she would not go hunting (very unlike this female) I look at her pads on her paws and they were almost wore off.

Any advise on this ?

How much snow / ice do you have? I used to use "mushers secret" on my dogs pads when I lived in Minnesota. Also, maybe your Vet could show you how you could adapt one of the foot dressings (I used a figure 8 type dressing that seperated inside from outside toes and covered the top half of the big pad and most of the toe pads) for your dogs.

I never had probs with coonhounds feet but, when we used to race sighthounds, it was not uncommon to have blood in the snow at the finish line.
