dc 30 & 40 antennas

anyone useing the after market antennas being sold, if so any reviews ?
any body building there own or have any ideas as how too.
i've seen a couple cable ones but boy they are long 20 1/2 in. ,..and kinda pricey if ya ask me ..$$20.oo... i been looking on several sites for info on 150 -160 mhz antennas for length specks . but cant find much.. any body help....
