They FIT RIGHT. They are very well known for the insulation wearing out of the heels, or get the Bama socks to wear with them, so the heels last longer. If you're just wanting nice winter boots, I got a pair of Irish Setters a couple weeks ago, and LOVE them. They're made by Redwing Boots.

Muck boots are the best you can buy for hunting.

I bough a air of the woody max and have NEVER owned a more comfortable or warmer air of boots in my life. I gave away all my Rocky's(minus my snake boots for summer hunting) and Irish Setter boots and just keep the mucks now.

I'm looking for a long lasting, comfortable, tall, very warm pair of chore boots (and for doing a little hiking around) that isn't going to cost me more than about $100.
This is pretty much my first winter in snow. Got a pair of Kamik's a few weeks ago and I don't like the fit, they don't keep my feet warm any longer than about 30 min, and they're too short, but I haven't had any problem with them slipping on ice and snow.

I've had the same pair of Muck waders for coonhunting since 2003. They've been the warmest and most comfortable hunting boots I've ever owned, but they're slicker than snot on wet rocks, slick/wet logs, and muddy slopes. If I'm going to be ice skating in the Muck Arctics, then I don't think I want them for chore boots. The sole on the Sport looks pretty similar to whatever Mucks are on my waders. I don't know anything about what kind of traction the sole on the Pro would have on ice.

A big priority for me is that I have to be able to get them off and on easily without using my hands, or only being able to use 1 hand, so I don't want anything with laces. That and price eliminates most of the boots I've seen that look like they'd meet my needs otherwise.
Since I'm female, I have trouble with a good fit in a lot of men's boots, even though my feet aren't small. Funny thing is that a lot of the women's boots are made shorter and with lighter insulation than the men's. That doesn't make any sense to me!


Tully, I've heard the boot chains and cleet-things are really slippery to wear inside (like on dry concrete or in the house or at stores). Is that true?
I've looked into getting some for Tiny since he's already fallen on the ice a few times, but if he has to take them off every time he goes inside a building, he'll never wear them. It would also be a problem if they get hung up when he's climbing around on his mixer.

I worked on the garbage route last winter, and worked off of the back of the truck. Used chains the whole time, and never really had an issue with them getting stuck in the step very often. Just make sure they are TIGHT over the boots, and cant "sag". That being said they can be slippery on dry, slick pavement, but not nearly as slick as bare boots on ice... How far is your nearest Theisens store? Last week they had all insulated boots 20% off. Got my first pair of Irish Setters with 1000g of thinsulate, and a gore tex liner for $102.00 with tax. LIGHT, WARM, COMFY, AND GOOD TRACTION! Wore my mucks on the route with the frog legs last year, and they were nice... I just refuse to pay out that kind of money for a rubber boot without a chap...

Coming from a lazy, snow living person, the Muck Woody Max are the best. I've had them for about 3 years. They feel like wearing slippers. Sometimes if I wear too thick of socks my feet get real sweaty, EVEN in the snow. I've had no issue slipping ect when coon hunting either. They fit tight, where if I step in deep snow, or water, if I can run real fast, the water doesn't run in them. But is does require at least one hand to get them on. Just to keep the pants from bunching. I can take them off easy enough.

I've always wanted to get some of the Muck/Chap combos. But I've had those black Muck boots and they suck. I want some like I have with Chaps.

I bought a piar of wetland boots with the camo chaps from the muck website. I absolutely love them! I have had them for 3 winters now and wear them frog gigging, taking the truck in the mud, coyote hunting, sledding in the snow and coon hunting. I wear the crap out of them. I have not had a leak nor have mine worn out. I won't buy anything but muck boots.

Tully, thanks for the reminder about Theisen's. I've only been in one once, but I have to go down to Ames sometime this week so I'll stop in. Saw some women's Irish Setters online the other day that looked like they'd work, but they wanted $150 for them.


Cassandra, are those the boots you've been wearing in the Nite Hunts the last year or two? And they have the fleece lining? I never realized they were Mucks, but I remember thinking they looked really comfortable and I would have liked to had a shorter boot like that for summer hunting. My feet have never been hot enough in any kind of boots at any time of year to actually sweat.
My own personal issue is that I hate camo patterned stuff. If that's what I have to buy, I will, but not if I have a choice.
I looked at the sole on my black Mucks and the tread pattern looks the same as what's on the Woody Max. Maybe it's a different type of material since mine are so old???
I would have replaced my waders this year except I found out the chaps are no longer made. They've been awesome (liked them better than Wicks) and are still in perfect shape.

I love my muck boots. Mine are on my waders and they are extremely comfortable. I wear them every night i hunt and i still find myself being impressed every time i put them on.

I wore my pair of muck boots out in no time the sole fell right off. But i guess it depends what your doing with them. If you don't mind a heavy boot I would suggest a pair of Mickey mouse boots there the warmest boots i've owned and there cheap you can find them in sportsman guide.
