Garmin Question

the kid down the street bought a dc 30 collar to use with my system from time to time when he hunts with us. he does not go with us all the time but his collar is in my system under his dogs name and gets used just once in a while.what i wanna know is why has the last 3-4 times he has hunted with us my system picks his collar up but will not reconize my collars until i delete them and re-add them to the system.my dogs collars are under there names too and when you go to dogs they are there but with all the collars on and tripple blinking my collars wont show.should i send it back to garmin or am i doing somthing wrong.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

I would call Garmin and see if they can trouble shoot it over the phone but some of them are kinda dumb so you never know. They have helped me with mine over the phonebefore and it has fixed the bugs.

Does one of your hunting buddies have your collars on his system also? Sounds like someone has changed the collard ID number on them to me.

His ID number is interferring with your numbers. Write down all numbers to include his and change them so they are 10 numbers or more apart. That worked for me. Good luck.

collar numbers

From my experience, the only time you will get another collar interferance is if the last number is the same. 04,14,24, etc. I have not had anyone confirm or dispute my theory: There are 4 frequencies for the Garmin. I think 1-10 are one frequency,11-20 are another, etc. The last digit is the code for that frequency. So if one guy has his set on 11 and another person in your group is on 21, you will get a message that says you are getting interferance from another collar and would you want to reassign another number.

Tim the only time that comes into effect is when your using two different Astro's. He's using one Astro to track all collars.

Does it pick up your collars just fine when you don't use your buddies? If not it might be the Annt on the collars is wore out and you need to replace them.

That may be right but you will also get the interference if the numbers are too close. For example like 7 and 9. I added a new collar and it gave me interference and the numbers were like 5 and 9 if I'm not mistaken.

What I was getting at was maybe when he added the boy's collar, it was interfering with his collars and maybe his collars got reassigned. Just throwing out some thoughts.

this thing will automaticly reassigne a collar number???
i dont think so.when i first got this system i went in and looked at my collars numbers and frequencies and programed those into my icom so if i ever needed to i could track the collar with my icom box if needed. my collars are set to re-fresh every five seconds so that means it puts out a beep every five seconds and i just checked that last night both of my collars are still beeping on the two frequencies i programed way back when so that hasnt changed.

i deleted the boys collar from my system sunday night i will re-add it and check that collars numbers tonight
