Bark Collar

Looking into getting a bark collar. Never had one and don't know much about them, but I need something to keep my one hound from barking their head off.
I saw some for around $50 made by SportDog and Innotek, anyone have any experiences with these?

Do most have an On/Off switch?

Thanks!

I have one made by petsafe. It cost 50$ I think. It works for me. Though the dog it is used on learned he can whine and not get buzzed. But the whineing doesn't bring the law around.

I've tried several different ones... My experience with the dogtra/innotek models is that they may work, but they really aren't all that great. Alot of dogs bark right through them.

I had a female here that would bark right through the darn Sportdog. Briar suggested that I try the Dogtra unit. He was right on!

The Dogtra YS-500, which sells for 79 at Collar Clinic, will stop even the most hard headed dogs from barking. That thing hits hard. It's adjustable with levels from off - 7. I'm not real sure what levels 1-6 are for . Actually, I turned it up to 7 put it on them and wait. After they feel 7 once, they learn and you can then use some of those middle positions.

Another nice feature is that it's rechargeable. Don't have to worry about the cost of replacement batteries.

I give the Dogtra YS-500 2 thumbs up. I think it's even better than the Tri-Tronics which sells for 20 bucks more

A REGULER SHOCK SYSTEM WILL WORK JUST FINE IF YOU DON'T BS AROUND AND GIVE HIM ALL OF IT THE FIRST TIME. NO STARTING LOW AT FIRST AND WORKING YOUR WAY UP. WIDE OPEN FROM THE START WILL CURE YOUR PROBLEM. JMO

i have tried inotek, invisible fance co no bark collars and tritronics both the new and old series..

by far i liked the older tritronics better than all of them.. the new one lets them bark 3-4 times before correcting them which i dont like. the inotek is ok for the price but they do go through batteries..
may have to try dogtra.. id sure like the recharability.

Get a sport dog 10R. You find them on ebay cheap. I got two for $120.00. They are rechargeable, water proof and have adjustable settings.

I agree with you , I have went through 6 and by far the Dogtra ys-500 is head and shoulders above the others. I bet he want bark through this one on HIGH , I use and recomend tri tronic products , but the dogtra no bark is what I use in the kennel. Just my opinion H L Meyer

is it one that you can put it on and forget it - if they bark they get zinged. or do you have a controller similar to shocking system that you have to push a button when they bark?

At the risk of sounding like Ron Popeil, "Set It and Forget It" Just set it on whatever level you like, and it does the rest.

TriTronics Bark Elimonator. I have had them all and TT is all I use now. The battery lasts 6 months minimum and I never shut mine off. They have 5 levels. They go to zero battery drain if they are inactive such as when the dog sleeps then they come on as soon as the dog moves. Reliable, long lasting, no hassle bark collat. I get mine from Conkeys.

I use a Tri-tronics

I got the Bark Limiter from Tri-Tronics about a year ago and it works great. I can't speak for other brands but this one did the trick for my hard-headed Redbone.

I have one of the 45 dollar Petsafe brands from TSC and have excellant results, battery life going on a year. I believe TriTronics is the best but for the money that little Petsafe has done its job!!

TRITRONICS ALL THE WAY....

I've used the innotek AND the sportdog..but to me they are a waste of money!....I've got 2 tritronics bark limiters an I wouldn't have anything else!!!...I swear by these collars.....The battery life lasts a GOOD while....have 5 settings to choose from......and are TOUGH!!!....From old dogs to dumb pups...they can't be tore up!....

Get rid of the dog. An idiot is an idiot. They will bark right through the little tickle. I tried 3 on a barker with new batteries, shock collar will work as long as you're home. Cut your losses.

I'm a Tri-Tronics fan. Their products have always been good and do the job.
But I like the feedback of the Dogtra. Going to way my options and we'll see where I end up.

I Appreciate all the input!
