Any one hunt last night up north?

Our weather was about 32 degrees with a stiff south west wind last night. Normally, I take my youngest son to Boy Scouts on Tuesday nights, but last night I had his teenage brother take him.

I loaded my son's dog and hit some state land for a really nice hunt. I don't know if the tracking conditions were just very good or the young dog look good. Either way it was a very enjoyable hunt.

Regular hunting is at an end here, coon just arent moving much anymore...Hunting will pick up again if we get a long cold spell and a thaw...thats a pretty big "IF".

I didn't go last night because I took my son to Boy Scouts, LOL! I went the night before and the coon must've moved before dark. There was gusty SE wind and the rain was supposed to move in around 2 am. I made 3 den trees, all 3 had tracks in the snow coming and going. The one track she struck off the road had been run over by a deer hunter leaving the woods 3 hours earlier.

Josh,

Those big ole puddles that surround us, thank God, moderate us from much of that nasty weather you guys get. We do get our share, but nothing like you guys in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin get.

On El Nino years we get to hunt most of the winter, but then again I don't live in northern Michigan either.

Last night out was Saturday. Got one track and one coon treed. Too cold now for coons to move for a good while. We are in a La Nina pattern now with colder than normal Pacific Ocean temps and expecting above normal snow and cold this winter. If the rest of the year wasn't so darn nice here the winters sure wouldn't be worth it.

Saturday and Sunday we got into coon like I've never seen. Monday the rain moved in and hunting was totally different, followed by cold, cold weather.
As long as I don't have to wade through 18 inches of snow, I'll still get out a bit, but now it is more flipping a dog loose and sitting in a warm truck watching the Garmin until they're treed and expecting to walk to more den trees than usual.

Probably in the mid to low 20's last night with atleast a 15 mile per hour wind out of the SW. Cut loose 4 times, got 3 tracks, 1 den with the coon seen, 2 tree's with the coon on the outside and 1 slick. Shot 1 down. Credit River Tucker female starts to look real good under these conditions.

I made 3 drops last night 3 trees and 3 coon. My 5 1/2 month old pup treed one to but left to back the old dog too. Walked into about where he was treed and found a coon close by. Sure wish he would have stayed!!

Coon just seem to move for this older one I'm following around right now.
