I think hunting pressure has far more to do with it than the moon phases. Especially with deer. Deer and coons quickly recognize hunter pressure is at a peak at certain times , for deer it is daylight hours, for coons it is dusk till midnight, and they stay hidden, denned up, don't move during those peak times and instead feed during off peak hours.
