I would think they would have to put the 8 on it. If it was my dog and opend that soon after it was released and didn't open again pretty quick the 8 isn't all it is going to have to worry about if it is mine.

Babbling is a judgement descision by the judge.

If the judge deterimes the dog was babbling, it is minused those points.

If a judge scratches mine in one minute he better have something to back that decision up with and if it gets under a coon and never shuts up for 8 we are going to have a problem and I am about as easy to get along with as anyone in a hunt.
That 1 minute rule was put on there to give the babblers a minute to shut up. Not to punish and honest strike dog.

You can't scratch one for not opening just becouse the other one did. Maybe the first strike dog went the other way or they are all independant dogs. As long as it gets under a coon and doesn't shut up for 8 minutes there should be no problem.
If you want to get it for babbleing dry hole it on the next dump. If you really think it is just babbleing. You shouldn't be able to punish a man for strikeing his dog in that first minute as long as the dog can back up the coon.

The 1 minnute rule gives the handler the option to NOT strike the dog.....Not a liscense to steal 100 pts.

And with that attitude and nothing to back up the call you won't be the judge again unless you are in a crocked clup.

Your not stealing anything. If you want to be able to strike your dog that quick it is simple. Break your dog from babbleing coming off the leash. If mine opens comeing off the leash I am going to strike it. I can with confidence becouse it doesn't babble.

Well bring you a $100.00 bill and come make a bet and see for your self...........Or just save yourself a $100.00 and ask anyone that has ever hunted with me. Not all dogs babble and not all dogs that open before a minute is up is babbleing. That rule was made to give inferior dogs or dog trainers a chance for there dogs to shut up becouse there wouldn't be many dogs left if you scratched all that babbled in the first minute and most trainers don't seem to know how to stop it.
By the way. I take it that you are one that can't say your dog doesn't babble.

Grady, the man that started this post asked a question. Josh gave the answer. Then you inserted some nonsense that really had nothing to do with any of it. So what if a dog trees a coon in 8 minutes. There are plenty of dogs that can babble and get treed with a coon in 8 minutes. Bottom line, if the judge thinks your dog is babbling, you are minused. And if you wanna start trouble, you can go home with your non-babbling dog and enjoy the rest of the night hunting by yourself.

You can assume whatever you want to about me or my dog, makes no difference to me.

The thread started with a man getting minused for strikeing a dog in before the minute was up and the judge saying if the dog didn't open in the next minute he would scratch his dog. Now that rule was made so babbleing dogs could get away with it for the first minute. NOT to punish a dog for strikeing in the first minute. Now show me the rule were he can scratch a dog for not opening in a minute AND SCRATCH HIM FOR BABBLEING!!!!!!!!! I have never seen a MOH that would go for that or even keep a straight face on that one. BUT IF I DO I WILL GO HOME AND SWITCH CLUBS TO HUNT AT.

And, I don't care to lose $100. I'm not accusing your dog of being a babbler. But all those inferior trainers you are talking about, one of their ways of fixing it is to swear their dog is an honest strike dog.

Good gosh, I'm done.

I'm not arguing that there is a minute rule, because there is not.

The dog doesn't even have one minute if it is babbling. And it sure as heck don't have 8 either.

Now that we can agree on. I just hate to see a dog get cheated becouse it struck in the first minute. I have been to hunts were it seems like people are afraid to strike in the first minute becouse of being accused of strikeing on a babble. It gets my goat that people with honest dogs can't call them honestly with out getting into this crap. I don't know the guy that started this thread but if he strikes a dog in the first minute he shouldn't be given a minute to open again or be scratched. I think it isn't punishable by scratch anyway. I think it would be minuse the strike points but that isn't the point.
We with dogs that doesn't babble should be able to strike our dogs in the first minute if we want to and have the same 8 as the babbler that gets struck in on a babble 3 barks after the minute.

I guess in my mind, the babbling rule is not rigidly enforced enough. And it is minus, just as Josh said and I said in previous post. So the judge in the original question was wrong about that just as much as he was saying the dog had one minute.

By the way guys I don't like babblers. That is why I get ticked when I here a young guy getting screwed over a babbleing rule that probubly doesn't have a babbler. I didn't mean to cause any hard feelings.
For the record I have a blue dog that wouldn't even be a first strike dog much less a babbler. I allso have a walker that has a wide open mouth and would had been a babbler if I had let it get away with it. It is a year old pup and doesn't babble when I cut it with my dog but no telling what it will do when I cut it with babblers but if it babbles it will be broke of it or will be gone.

Well I am glad you didn't take me up on the hundred dollar bet. My dog doesn't babble but if I had a bet on it it would. All I have to do to get it to tree a possom is to tell who ever I am hunting with that night that it is dead broke and won't tree a possom.LOL
