There are some counties here on the southern borders

that are open to hunting and trapping bobcat. There is a quota and every kill is to be confirmed with the dnr. There are suppose to be bobcat in my area of Van Buren County, but have never run one to my knowledge. I am told they will bail as soon as they see a light coming. Coon and muckets are the only things I am treeing right now. lol

iowa bobcats

click on www.Iowadnr.gov or get a 2010 regulations booklet a walmart it list the counties you can kill just one per season. I have treed 2 in 46 years and livetrapped 1 in buena vista co. here we can't take them. Have owned dogs in the past that ran them a night in stead of coon they always bailed out before you could get to the tree, a pain in the butt when want to cacth your dogs.

Lol, walk in with your light off.. Have the gun ready before you turn your light on.. They will either scream at you, or bail out when you turn thr light on. Lol they'll scare the crap out of you at first.

never been to iowa but here in missouri we have put several up tree. We have best luck letting the dog tree for 20 or 30 mins. then sneak in to the tree. cold cat wont jump as quick as a hot one,

whats wrong to let your dogs tree till daylight? if ya wait till it gets light out they will sit tight, I was in SE IA for the fur opener hoping we would get one going, never got a cat going.
