I had a Yadkin River dog years ago, he was off of Champ, and he was almost all white. He was put up and made a show champion, never hunted till he was 3. He treed his first coon by himself the first week of kill season that year, and that was only his second time in the woods. He lived to be 12 years old and treed several coons the night before he died.

I have hunted and bred alot of Yadkin River bred hounds. We had tremondous success with this strain of hound. It was my experience that when crossed on some Lipper blood it produced a well balanced hound that you could pleasure hunt and win with. People dont realize but anything Nailor or Sacket Jr bred goes back to Yadkin river blood.
I quit hunting a few years back and when I started back I started hunting B@T's but a guy just made a cross that has about 10 dogs in the 3 gen pedigree that me and a friend of mine hunted and bred and I am getting one of those pups so I hope the old Yadkin River blood is still pumping hard in them.

yadkin river tom tom

Yadkin River Tom Tom was off of Yadkin River Jeff,as was Yadkin Tar Rattler,The sire of Nailor; as was Yadkin River Crowder, the sire of Rock River Sackett that sired Sackett Jr.Jeff also sired Yadkin River Champ,The sire of Merchants Tree Blaster.Tree Talking Crockett's dam Francis was also off of Yadkin River Jeff.I Owned and/or started Jeff ,Rattler ,TomTom ,Champ , Blaster ,Crockett and many more so if you have a dog that goes back to any of these dogs, you're closer to the Yadkin River than you think.I also owned Yadkin River Tom.

Old South

Don't know but think I bred a female to yadkin river Tom . When Old South lived some where around Lake Norman, or Mt. Holly.

I sure would like to breed to old tom again.

Take care Old South

yadkin river tom

Yadkin river gator, owned by me and Eric McHone goes back to yadkin river tom 22 times. I linebred on him since the late seventies after seeing the kind of track dogs he threw that treed and started at an extremely early age.
Want to thank Jim Meeks, Toehead Smith and Kyle Chase for my introduction to this strain of coondogs. Jack Dobson
