Why?!?

I don't post very often but I do cruise the board quite a bit when I am hunting and I see this happen a lot.

Since when does making a dog a NTCH make it the next big thing and the states newest stud dog? Congratulations on making a dog a NTCH (wow! A ntch!) but that doesn't mean its the next big thing. And then after they post the ad and no one responds to it the put BTT 14 times a day so all of the other ads get pushed to the back.

Also, I get a chuckle out of someone buying a 3 month old puppy and tagging it as A STUD DOG!! Im all for being optimistic but I think I would worry about it being a coondog long before I ever called it a stud dog.

Just my 2 cents worth for the day.

Funny

I get a kick out of those too. Then if a dog is not all grand or close its not worthy of breeding to. Also when people post a dog for sale. No tire kickers please. I realize you don't want a bunch of folks just calling but if a dog is worthy of selling it shouldn't hurt your feelings if he doesn't.

I don`t see anything wrong with someone having high hopes for their pup! I bet there have been a few guys who got that pup, said that same statement, and a few years later, they had a world champion! Not many people get a pup and say, " I bet he`s gonna be a slick treein, deer running fool! JMO. It`s all just for fun anyway!

Having high hopes for a pup and claiming it to be the next big stud dog are 2 different things. There is nothing wrong with saying that a pup is bred up the way you like it, from a proven cross, and has a good chance at making a dog. That's a long long way from being the next big stud though.

Very, very incorrect statement. A stud dog is a dog who improves upon the breed each time he is bred! Now even a good or great stud dog will only produce 10-25% pups that make something. There are a lot of male dogs who are capable of breeding they should not be considered a stud dog. If you want to call all male dogs with a pair hanging stud dogs then that's your business but you're no true houndsman in my opinion.

Wasn't trying to offend you. Just hoping you might see it different. If you wanna breed ole Joe to sally then you can. Grch, grntch, ntch, is all well and good but coondog to coondog is my opinion. I hunt with every and any dog I consider breeding to or buying. If they can't tree a Coon consistent then I keep looking. I'll bow out of this one now.

The truth of it is, is that someone can take just about any coonhound pup, apply the right amount of time needed, and make the dog tree a coon. The thing is though is that calling that dog a stud dog is incorrect till proven, no matter what title it has, that it CAN be a reproducer. Not by one cross, but at least a few.

Don't really agree with your idea on a stud dog. Tell you all why I had a female that was out of COONDOG's. the female was a COONDOG 2. None of these dog's was out of grand or nite chanpions. I bred my female to 3 diffrent male dog's and raised real coondog's out of all 3 litter's. So how dose everyone figure that you have to breed to a reproducer (stud dog). All we breed to is back yard bred COONDOG"s. Tried the competion hunts hunted 4 hunts my male dog made his self a nite champion, I didn't do it for him. Hunted him in one nite champion cast . That fixed me to much cheating, going on for me. So that ended my competion hunting,NO MORE WILD AND CRAZY NIGHT HUNTS.

Don't matter about title. Breed a coondog to a coondog. That makes a good chance u will get a coondog

Glad to here you agree that a STUD DOG DON"T HAVE TO BE A PROVEN REPRODUCER. Like you said coondog to coondog equals a excellent chance to reproduce a coondog.Titles don't mean anything to me on a dog found out how Most dog's get them, HANDLERS ARE BETTER THAN THERE DOG"S. JMO
