Bear Huntin

My son's Gunner dog on the front left, a yearling learning the rig. And he is in good company, as he's sitting in the middle of four good rig dogs ranging in age from five to eleven years

Been out bear hunting, looking for a boar worth turning out on but only finding sows or smaller bears. We should be about due though I figure! When the old timers said there was gold in them hills they were talking bout a bear track or the color of the Quaken Aspen tree in fall..

Thanks, and it's a great time to be in the hills chasing bears. The window of time is always short, then a guy is pushed out and the canyons come alive with orange jackets as the elk hunters take over......but for another week the woods are mine!

Thanks Josh, and we have been striking and finding bear tracks every day, even rigged a lion hard today around 1:00 PM. But Mr. Big just hasn't shown his face for us yet........

We are going to hunt until the end though, and have another six days before the season closes. Mostly we've been rigging and cutting tacks looking for size, and have had a bear to run every day if we choose, but time is short and we are probably gonna start taking more of those blind rigs........

Thanks Josh and Hoppy, and glad both of you are enjoying the photos. It's a great time to be in the mountains, with the color on and the temperature cooling off, makes a person really feel alive. And sorry for the response you received over on the big game board, as many of those guys seem eaten up with jealousy and hate and couldn't even give you a single minute in the sun to express the fun you had under your first bear tree. Just know that it is their loss and not ours...............

Keep'em treed,
ike

Love that photo of the aspens Ike but knowing what lays ahead puts a damper on it. Just hate the winters now and all that white stuff that comes with it.

Yes Bo D, Those wonderful fall colors give way to barren trees and that white fluffy stuff that follows. I love the fall clear up until the hard winter sets in as well, and can take a little of that snow but hate the -20 degree stuff for sure. If we could only have fall and spring and forget the summer and fall life would be grand.............

keep'em treed,
ike

Those fall colors are changing fast, and we had a rain storm the past few days that have given the high country a thin, blanket of snow. I've been busy or I'd been up chasing lions, but that's how things go I guess. The elk hunters will be in the woods tomorrow followed by the general deer hunt, so I'm gonna stay home and road the dogs unless I can find a crack in their action to hunt..............

Best regards,
Ike
