*****URGENT*** NC S329 Right to Hunt Bill *****

NC Senate has a bill on the floor that is a "Right to Hunt Bill"

"This would be a NC Constitutional Ammendment" - and that is huge!!!!!!

This is another situation were you are needed, but this time for a good thing.

The above link will take you to this bill - It is being proposed that this be brought before the NC General Public during General Elections in November 2010.

This could and will be huge to have a Right to Hunt Law on the books in NC. Please contact your Representatives and let them know you want there support of this bill.

please look closely at who is sponsoring this bill. 1/2 of the senators co-sponsoring S329 are also FOR HB460 (commercial dog breeders).

some of them appear to be playing both sides.

Short Title: Right to Hunt. (Public)

1 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO AMEND THE NORTH CAROLINA CONSTITUTION TO RECOGNIZE THE RIGHT TO HUNT AND FISH IN NORTH CAROLINA.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1. Article XIV of the North Carolina Constitution is amended by adding a new section to read:

Sec. 6. Right to hunt and fish.The citizens of North Carolina have a right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife, including the use of traditional means and methods, subject only to laws as enacted by the General Assembly, and rules and regulations adopted by an administrative agency to which authority11 has been delegated in accordance with law, to promote sound wildlife conservation and management. Public hunting and fishing shall be a preferred means of managing and controlling wildlife. Nothing herein shall be construed to modify any provision of common law or statutes relating to trespass or property rights."

SECTION 2. The amendment set out in Section 1 of this act shall be submitted to the qualified voters of the State at a statewide general election on November 3, 2010, which election shall be conducted under the laws then governing elections in the State. Ballots, voting systems, or both may be used in accordance with Chapter 163 of the General Statutes.

The question to be used in the voting systems and ballots shall be:

[ ] FOR [ ] AGAINST

Constitutional amendment to recognize the right to hunt and fish in North Carolina."

SECTION 3. If a majority of votes cast on the question are in favor of the amendment set out in Section 1 of this act, the State Board of Elections shall certify the amendment to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State shall enroll the amendment so certified among the permanent records of that office. The amendment set out in Section 1 of this act shall become effective upon certification.

SECTION 4. This act is effective when it becomes law.

If this bill is voted on and does not pass then you could lose your hunting rights all together. Tennessee has one coming up in 2012 and it could be a scary thing. Think about this: How many people in the big cities hunt? But how many vote? The HSUS will be pushing hard for this not to pass. Watch for the ads to appear on TV and on billboards. Just hope we win and not them.

and the sad thing about most of these is that they are entered by people in urban counties.

S515 - prohibit penning of wildlife - started by sen from Wake county - think Raleigh. how many pens are in raleigh?

I guess you all see that EVERY propsed bill that went through March 4th 2009 PASSED! U know from the WRC of NC. Good Luck trying to get all the "some one else will take care of it for me" hound owners out there to stand up for ANYTHING!!!!!!!!! I have already learned that ALL of NC hound/ beagle hunters are to sorry to get off the couch and attend a meeting... better yet, to sorry to get online and vote ...you know push buttons. More Rabbit hunters showed up in my district than hound owners ps there was 2 of us!!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!! I KNOW I WILL BE THERE
PS Everyone who wants to fuss bout these issues won't try to change them so get up and do something or give in a sell your dog

if you cant go to a meeting, flood the email boxes. I have sent 4 in the last 2 days: Sen Kay Hagan (who ran on the position of helping hunters in NC), Sen Neal Hunt (sponsor of S515), and both my district Senator and Representative. I cant get to a meeting, but I do know how to write a an email or make a phone call. Maybe others will do the same or we can all go to other states to watch and remember what hunting with dogs was like....ahhh the good ol' days.

Misha,

Unfortunately you are correct!!!

We can not make anyone do anything, all we can do is to the best of our ability make as many people as possible aware of what is going on out there. Ask them to help and provide them with the information to be able to help.

We do have so many people out there that assume that someone else is going to take care of it for them...... but the sad truth is it takes us all.... Please if you are on this forum it means you have computer access and it will only take you a few minutes to use the links supplied to find your district representatives and send the emails to them.

It is not to much to ask and if you do not and the bills pass then you have no one to blame but yourself. Your representative that did not hear from you could have be the deciding vote.

PLEASE HELP NOW!!!!!!

Already have my friend. I have been sending emails to all public officals and celeberties big buisness and all that support HSUS just to let them know our stand and that we will not be supporting them as long as they are supporting HSUS.
