Another scoring ?

A dog trees and there is a limb going over to the tree next to his, the limb appears to be 1.5 to 2in in dia. comes with in 4in. of the tree that the coon is in but does not touch. The coon is all the way across to the opposit side of the tree that the branch comes close to. Is it + or o? Just woundering how every one feels on this.

Circle or Minus depending on the tree and the time of year..Thats how I would vote to score and Yes I would score it the same if my dog had the most to gain or lose..The best advice I ever got about handling in the hunts is score em as you see em..

The answer likely depends on if you are scoring with a card or with a rifle....

coon crossing out

liked chris's answer.
the only reason you saw the coon he messed up and went up a limb that it could not cross out on. limbs do not have to touch that you can see look for a limb about two below. the limb it crossed out on may have been two feet from the other tree. if two limbs touch you can be sure that is not the one it crossed out on unless it is big enough to hold his weight without bending. when a coon walks out on a limb it will bend down and he will grab one lower than the one walked out on, not the one that is even.

+ any night with or with the gun.

Both trees are full of leaves I under stand it is a judgement call but what I am wondering is If the tree was O and a ? was brought back to the club how would most of you vote? On these judgement calls i just like to see how most of you guys vote.

1&1/2 inch is pretty good limb. I've seen them cross from twigs on one tree to twigs on another. And that's right, they will bend alot. I thought the rules say the dog had to show you the coon. I saw two dogs treeing on a tree that forked about a foot off the ground . The braches were only 3 feet apart 12 feet off the ground and both about 20 inches in diameter. The judges dog got plus and the other dog got minus cause he was standing on the wrong branch (or was he?). Not circle but minus on a single tree. It's amaizing how tight common sence can get twisted in order to win. Oh, and I forgot to say that the judge went from second place tree to first place points.

Its a judgement call. It should be settled by the cast vote in the woods. If its questioned , how can a MOH decide something that he didn't see ?

An MOH can fix a rule violation or the math on a score , but a judgement call needs to be decided in the woods. This is just like a dog being minused for moving on a tree. The MOH has no idea what it sounded like from sitting at the clubhouse.
