Treeing Walker Hall Of Fame Mack Twain

May I ask for your consideration of two hounds that should be in the Treeing Walker Hall Of Fame.

MACK TWAIN and his grand daughter HERSHBERGER'S TEXAS BABE. As many know who has around the sport for a while there are some dogs in the Hall Of Fame that doesn't deserve to be there, just as there are some that should be there.

To vote for the Hall Of Fame you have to be a member of the Treeing Walkers Breeders and Fanciers Association. As it is set up now you are sent a ballot to place your vote. As so happens sometimes a dog may or may not get the votes because of people either liking the owner or not liking the owner. At times people lobby for votes for a certain dog. At other times a dog may not get enough votes because a more popular dog is up for the vote at the same time.

There is times a dogs doesn't get in when they should and there is no one promoting them and the years pass where dogs that should be in are overlooked or passed over for a more current dog.

Is there any dog in more Hall Of Fame Members Pedigrees then MACK TWAIN? As a person researches the history of our breed it becomes clear how important MACK TWAIN was as one of the members of the foundation stock.

If you are a member of the TWBFA and are going to vote for Hall Of Fame Dogs, I ask you to consider there two hounds. If you aren''t a member and love these spotted hounds please join the TWBFA. The list of hounds that has MACK TWAIN in their pedigree is very impressive. Please go to

http://www.finleyriverchief.com/MACK_TWAIN.php

and view this list. I am still doing work on it and there are a lot more to go on the list but I believe most will agree it is impressive. Most of the dogs listed are already in the Hall Of Fame. Isn't it time that MACK TWAIN joins all of the dogs that have him in their pedigrees? A lot of these hounds have MACK TWAIN in them numerous times.

I am not trying to take away from others that might deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame. But here are two dogs that should be in the Hall Of Fame and has been overlooked far too long. Just check the list of dogs that have MACK TWAIN in their pedigree and see if it deserves your consideration

Thank you for reading.

I agree Frank. You with your research for your books have seen how much impact he had on the breed.

The TWBFA Hall Of Fame was started with 5 Males being inducted in 1968. In looking back maybe 10 or 15 dogs should have been inducted to begin with or add 5 a year for a couple of years. In 1970 they inducted 5 Females.

It is my understanding all World Hunt Champions go in once they die but other then that now only one male and one female are added each year. Which is fine except when you have dogs that should be in but were overlooked at the start, it makes it hard to get the support over dogs more recent.

I am assuming that World Champions being added after their death started in 1970.

In 1968 the dogs inducted were JOHNSON'S BANJO, MERCHANT'S BAWLIE, MILLER'S LITTLE JOKER, SHETLER'S SONNY BOY, THE INCREDIBLE ROCK.

Bawlie and Rock were World Champions so if that rule had been in effect then that would have opened up two spots. As much as I agree Little Joker should be in there I believe he made it in 1968 because of him being recent and people really liked his owner. Joker has MACK TWAIN in his pedigree on his bottom side. But also on his top side Motley's Missouri Major and Indiana Boone Boy should have been put in before Joker.

MOTLEY'S MISSOURI MAJOR was put in the HOF in 1969. INDIANA BOONE BOY wasn't put in until 1974.

WHITE RIVER BOONE, DEEP RIVER MIKE and SPRING CREEK SMOKEY were inducted in 1970. This is where I come up with the theory that World Champions were automaticly inducted starting in 1970. MERCHANT'S BANJO II was also inducted that year.

But my theory is blowed out of the water with the 1971 inductions. That year was KATIE'S ROWDY, FINLEY RIVER SPOT, MATHIS' CAROLINA CASEY, STAN'S SAILOR BOY. I know Sailor Boy died a long time before 1971 and if my theory was correct he wold have went in the previous year.

HERSHBERGER'S OKLA. SPOT didn't make it in until 1984.

The fact that WHITE RIVER KING didn't make it in until 1969 I think was wrong. He should have been put in the first year. There are a lot of deserving dogs in the Hall Of Fame. But there are some that never should have been put in but were because of popularity of the owner or whatever. But to me that is not the issue now. The issue should be making sure some of these dogs Male and Female that should have been inducted into the Hall Of Fame a long time ago get their due.

In 1970 5 females were put in. WHITE RIVER ROWDY didn't make it in until 1983. How can that be? She was the first World Champion Walker female placing 2nd the year White River Boone won it. She is in many top hounds pedigrees. One of her sons Deep River Joe produced the mother of Deep River Mike. Deep River Joe was out of WHITE RIVER ROWDY and a son of MACK TWAIN. She should have been one of the first 5 to be put in. And in truth MACK TWAIN should have been one of the first 5 males put in.

I hope people will research a little and will decide to vote for MACK TWAIN into the Hall Of Fame. He should be there.

HERSHBERGER'S TEXAS BABE

Since the Hall Of Fame Ballots will be going out soon and this thread has mostly been about MACK TWAIN, I would like to ask again for your consideration of his granddaughter NITE CH. HERSHBERGER'S TEXAS BABE into the female side of the Treeing Walker Hall Of Fame. She too deserves to be included along with the many hounds in the Hall that has her in their pedigree.

HALL OF FAME

I just received my ballot for the TWBFA Hall Of Fame voting. There are 8 males and 7 females on the ballot.

Of the 7 other males on the ballot, everyone has MACK TWAIN in their pedigree and many of them numerous times.

Of the 7 females on the ballot at least 6 of them have MACK TWAIN in their pedigree. I am still checking on one of the females pedigree.

Of these 14 dogs on the ballot, not counting MACK TWAIN at least 13 have MACK TWAIN in their pedigree and HERSHBERGER'S TEXAS BABE is in at least 7 of these hounds pedigrees. I am still checking on some of these as for Babe being in their pedigree.

If you are a member of the TWBFA may I again ask for your consideration of placing your vote for these two hounds? Thank you for your consideration.

For a list of a few of the famous hounds that have MACK TWAIN in their pedigree check out this link:
