Do any of you guys collect surplus Rifles?

I was just curious about that,
Im interested in the old Mausers, Springfields, Einfields, and so forth.
I just ordered my first Surplus Rifle, and cant wait till it gets here.
Its a Yougoslavian 24 47 Mauser Rifle.
I chose hand select, and also ordered an assesory kit with it.
Its just one of the interest I have besides Coonhounds, and Squirrel dogs. Just wondering if anyone else is interested in this kind of stuff too.

When I first got my C&R license I bought a VZ24 Mauser and a CZ 52 pistol. I also bought a Bulgarian Makarov, still my favorite carry gun, Nothing since.

BT/Walker, Jim

Neat, I have been thinking about trying to get my C&R License.
There are a few more rifles I would like to have.
Im really interested in the 03A3 Springfield, but the price of them has gone through the roof.
I will post some pictures of my Yugo when it gets here, it will take 7 to ten days to get it to my dealer.
I ordered the Bayonet, Sling, and Cleaning kit with it.
I would also like to get some 8MM Ammo in stripper clips, but may have to wait for another Pay Day. LOL

Surplus guns are almost totally at the mercy of whatever administration is in power. Now is not a good time for C&R guns or surplus ammo. Eight years ago it was wide open.

Anyone into collecting old guns (50 years or older) should look into obtaining a C&R license. They are fairly cheap, not a hassle to get if you have a clean record and they open up a whole new world for gun collectors. Plus MidwayUSA gives wholesale pricing for C&R license holders.

Curios and relics.
Basicly it is guns 50 years old or older. It is a differernt class of FFL license. You can buy and have the guns shipped directly to you from any state by other FFL license holders without going through any of the normal restictions. It is not a dealer license. You are licensed as a collector. That means you cannot buy or sale as a business, only as a private collector. You can buy from the surplus suppiers like AIM and SOG at wholesale prices. I've had one for years. You just have to learn to control your buying urges or you can have a maxed out credit card very quickly.

It means Curio and Relics, it is a license that allows you to purchase antique firearms and have them shipped to your home.

I have been buying C&R guns for the last 6 years or so and It is a lot of fun. Ive had more fun shooting them them then the newer stuff in my safe that is just collecting dust now. There is just so much history behind many of the guns and to me part of the fun is acquiring something and learning as much as you can about where it came from. Beware it is like coon hunting and can become very addicting LOL!

I want a 1903 myself, in the begining of December, I found a beautifull one in Cabellas, It was an O3A3 in really nice condition.
They let me hold it, check it out, and I wanted it bad, but I just couldnt swing that $1200 right before Christmas.
It was painfull to hand it back to them.
I am planning to buy an SKS next, fun to shoot, and the ammo is dirt cheap. Its almost as cheap to shoot an SKS as it is a .22.
