I have a 3 year old nite ch bitch. Here that last 3 months she has pretty much quit hunting all together. Everytime I drop her for the most part she will bust ass about 300 yards in the woods like she is going hunting and lay down in the woods. She will be waiting on me to come get her. Everytime I drop her she does this!! Ive tried laying her up, ive trying switching her, ive tryed waiting her out nothing is working!!! Very frustrating! Occasionaly maybe once every two weeks she will go in and slam a coon, but next time you drop her she is right back to busting in and sitting down. Any ideas?

I've hunted with this female quite a bit, she seems very healthy otherwise. It is a very weird situation, has me stumped too.

Guessing heart worm or lymes. To the vet you go for some blood work and take a stool sample with.

Ive got a hound thats does this also. He want hunt sometimes but other times if he goes hunting he will locate at the tree then shut up and never bark again. When you find him he'll be at the tree laying down most of the time looking up but not barking. He acts like he gets over heated are something. He is real bad in the summer time. I dont keep him over fat either.

Have you used an e-collar on her lately? Or have you hunted her somewhere that there is a hot wire. I have a gyp that will do the exact same thing if she sees what she even thinks is a hot wire.

I would get all the health issues ruled out first, Wes. Besides the heart worms and Lymes, Blasto could be a possibility.

had a female that did same thing , you should head right to the vet. mine was running out of gas quick, she had lymes , took about 6 months and she is back to herself. will progressly get worse and then it will be to late.

Does she do this when you cut her by herself? Maybe she doesn't like what you're turning her loose with, also she may just be burnt out. Many dogs get burnt out. I would first do as suggested and take her to a vet.

I use to Own Nowheres Wipeout Scooter D. He has Lyme disease and about 2 times a year he will just be plain wore out til you get him antibiotics. That lyme knocks the crap out of them wears them down when it flares up.

I've had dogs tree coins around her all Night and she'll just sit there. Then the nnext night she might tree a coon one drop and go sit the next drop

When we had problems pop up with the police dogs we would go back to basics. They would generally come right back up quickly. Maybe go back to the basics, turn a coon loose, crank her up on a roll cage....basic stuff. You kinda took the fun out of what she was doing and you have bring the fun back. She is probably a little confused right now. Make sure it is all positive and try to stay away from correcting her for anything. Fire her up, get her happy and end on a good note. Hope she turns around for ya.

Could be a number of things, but she needs to go to the vet. Rule out heartworms, lymes, and anyother bad health issues. One of my females was fine, hunted fine, and you couldn't tell anything was wrong. Took her for a brucelosis test and found out she had lymes. The vet told me what to look for and gave me some antibiotics. She never stopped hunting but she now has more energy and can handle more drops without getting as tired.

sounds kinda like she is smelling off game in the area and is scared of getting zapped.
caught my hound running a deer one night, something he knows is not allowed. let him have the tritronics pretty good, then turned him out on several deer about an hour later to see what he would do. he hit the ground, smelled the deer, and got under the truck. took him down the road and turned him out again and he went hunting like he always has. I think he was just letting me know he understood he did wrong.
may just be her way of letting you know she is trying to do good.
like the other post says going back to basics for a while may be what she needs. may need to give alot of praise when she does good.
