is there any way to mark where your dog is at ? lets say hes 200 yds away and you wanna mark his location. ive tried and all i can mark is right where im standing at. anyone ever try it? thanks!!

It is possible.....you have to move the arrow to where the dog is and mark it there. Been a while since I done it and dont have my garmin with me to check but it should work.

Move the arrow on top of the dog, it will highlight the dog hit mark and pick what you want to call the location and you are all set.

I think if you hit "Mark", it will mark the position the gps is at, not where the dog is at. To mark the dogs positiom you have to put the pointer on the dog and hit "Enter" and then go from there.

I think if you put the pointer right on the dog symbol, that it won't actually mark that spot. But you can move the pointer slightly off of the dog then you can mark that spot. Its been awhile since I've done it, but I know it can be done.

Usually if I want to see what the dog was doing there, I'll just put the pointer on the spot and then walk in there. Its a great learning tool to see what the dog was doing, why it was barking the way it was, why it might have gone on, and so on.

where ever you move the arrow to it will mark the location. If you just hit mark and do not move the arrow (pointer) it will mark where you are at. The pointer or arrow always comes up exactly where the handheld unit is unless you move the pointer.

Do you guys mark most of your trees? I have gotten into the habit of marking every tree my dogs make and most of the spots they locate on. But then I haven't hunted anything but a couple one year olds for the last few months.

The other nite me and my buddy were hunting our pups and Abbi fell treed. We were both watching them on our Garmins. Kate trails right on by Abbi's tree and falls treed about 30 yards deeper. Abbi never hardly misses a bark but packs up and moves to Kates tree. No possible way you would have ever caught it without seeing it on the Garmin. Same thing prolly happens in the hunts all the time and goes unnoticed.
