I believe the original question was asking about interference by the G2 head.
Yes, there is radio interference by the G2 that drastically reduces the range of the Garmin. The higher you have the G2 turned up, the more interference. If you are tracking your hound at a fairly far range and turn your G2 on high, you will usually lose coverage in about 20 to 30 seconds. If you turn your G2 off, you will usually pick up coverage in just a couple seconds.
The obvious answer is to use the back light on the Garmin. If you're using your G2 and getting reduced range, try turning it off and see if you don't get a reading right away.
