Ticks Ticks and more Ticks

For the first time I am getting ticks on myself. And my daughter and wife have found ticks on themselves. I am the only one that goes to the woods with the dogs. I take the same precautions against ticks as always. Anyone else run into this? If so what did you do?

I've heard but never tried drinking a table spoon of vinegar a day will keep them off of you. I pulled 4 off me after I hunted Friday night, I think I'm going to try the vinegar method.

my first night out putting turkeys to bed this spring i came in with 20 some odd on me.. i went out and bought a bottle of tick repellent with permethrin in it(some person on here told me to try it).. the next morning i didn't bag a bird but i also didn't have one tick on me..
this year is by far the worst i have seen for these little guys.

do your best to find any spray with permethrin in it. spray it on your clothes only and i will kill ticks on contact.. i have 4 cans a home now.. i may get more..
if i get bit by a tick it seems to not heal for months. this is the first product i have found to work.. good luck.

here is the kind i have been using. farm and home had it.

If you wanna keep the peace ... get the 40% deet or the small bottles of 100% deet and spray yourself lighlty from head to toe before getting dressed ..

.. then use the permethrin type stuff on your clothes , this combo will keep 99% of tics and no-see um's off you .

When you get home .. shuck all your clothes off on the porch and got take a bath with a capfull or three of bleach in it .

It's what I do , if you don't ... you are gonna take bugs to bed with you ...

PermaNone you can find it in the camping section of Wal-mart, sporting good stores, etc. it is in a orange and blue aerosol can made by Repel. It is absolutely the best tick, mosquito, spider, repellant known to man. Make sure you read the instructions.

It's a permethrin or perethrin based stuff ... you can go to the feed store and buy double what's in the can for half price most of the time .

But , don't get it on your skin....

Ultra Shield

They sell it for horses, can be used on dogs, works great on both and people too. Smells like citronella, but contains the same ingredients discussed above. One bottle has lasted me two years.

They're bad around here already too. Had one crawlin on me just from being out in the yard around the kennels today...

We bought some Diatomaceous Earth, supposed to get fleas, ticks, spiders, ants and the like and you can safely use it around the dogs, kennels, yard and garden. Spread it around for at the house, probably have to get some spray for when we hunt. We also hit the dogs with some BioSpot (Permethrin main ingredient) and changed all their bedding to cedar shavings. Hopefully we've got a good early start for combatting all the bugs this summer. Seems like theyre all gonna be bad this year!
