Dog food?????

Heres a subject thats been beat to death so if yall can help me beat it a little more lol.

Im feedin hunters special 26/18. Im havin to feed 3 large cans of this a day to my dogs to keep them where they need to be. When I say cans I dont mean spagehtti O cans. Its a large can that hold probably 2.5 or 3 cups of food. I dont hunt them really hard, maybe 2 to 4 nights a week at maybe 2 hours a hunt. Their crap is not firm like it should be but its solid with a strong smell.

Ok so heres what im lookin at switching to. Im not askin for the best kind of dog food out there or nothin just what yall think would be best for me.

Diamond 24/20
Diamond 30/20
River Run 24/20
Tracker 24/20
Tracker 26/18

I dont no if any of yall have tried any of these feeds or not but if anyone can help me I would appreciate it cause im no dog food expert but I want my dogs to be healthy and happy with out me goin broke from havin to feed them more than I should have to. Feeding 3 dogs is costing me close to 90 dollars a month and I feel thats just to much.

Quit looking at the protein/ fat content. Instead look at the main ingredients. look for meat not meat by products, meat and bone meal but some type of meat as the first ingredient. ther are tons of feed out there with high protein/fat contents but once you flip the bag over and look at the ingredients most of the protien is undigestible and full of grains.

I feed the River Run 24/20 and it will really keep a dog up. I have Anatolian Shepards as well as hounds and they weigh about 125 lbs a piece. I only feed a hundred dollars a month between three Anatolians and five hounds. I feed my hounds so little when we cant run I almost am ashamed to look them in the eye. One easy keeper is hog fat and the rest are too fat to hunt. Come May first I will be running some of that fat off though!

Probiotics wouldn't hurt either, especially if you worm him.

I fed the river run for a while and did not care for it. I had the same problem that you are having now, I had to feed them alot more and they still didn't look good. They also had alot of huge piles of poop. I switched them to pzazz and I'm feeding almost half as much and they are looking good on it.

I know Hi-Standard is not one of your options here, but if you could find it locally I would strongly recommend it. I have been feeding it for several years and it is the best that i can find for the price.

Yea thats my biggest problem is finding food locally. I live in a little whole in the wall and there just aint many places around in driving distance that carry a great selection.

Go out Hi-Standarddogfood.com and find a distributor close to you. If there isn't one close to you call Wade at Hi-Standard and see if you can become a distributor. I feel this the best dog food on the market with the best price. If you haven't tried it, you don't know what you are missing.

Pick a dog food that has meat as your first ingredient and check for omega 3's and omega 6. I found that is what works best for me. almost each dog food with have different levels of protein and fat. Feed higher protein and fat in the winter or when hunting them hard. Less protein and fat in the summer or not much hunting.
