I belong to the same club as Todd and I have to say I love the hunt tests! I've HTX'ed one hound, and have started working on my younger male. My hounds are exposed to both the pressure in our club's nite hunts, and the "alone time" in the woods on a hunt test quite frequently. I've noticed first hand the real truth of these hunt tests. I could have a perfect night in the woods on a nite hunt, treeing coon left and right, but on the same night, hunt that dog on his own and not get anything. And vice verse. They have their nights. Some on and some off. My hounds have failed their fair share of hunt tests, just like anyone else's, but i find with the hunt tests, I began to expect more and better things out of my hounds, which is a good thing. The hunt tests are pretty tough, for hound and handler. I would like to see the program grow and flourish, and help shake the notion that this is just another title.
The fellowship is unreal. I've never had as much fun BS-ing with a group of guys until 4:00am in my life! the low keyness is sorta nice, which is something these hunt tests will come with at first. All I know is, for me personally, I want all of my dogs to have a HTX, not for publicity, but to prove to ME that they can hold up, alone or together.
