papers for champion apbt

I have become owner of an APBT. He is a UKC Champion. However the previous owner hasnt given me his papers yet. What do I do if I dont recieve them? how do I prove he is who he is? Since he is a Champion already, wouldn't someone know who he is? I know he is a CH. because I have seen him at a show in Nov.2002,and his papers when I picked him up for a trial weekend. Is he registerable? He is an excellent representative of the breed.

Egads! I sure hope you get the papers. If you don't, it's lawsuit time. You pay a lawyer to sue the party. They pay a lawyer to defend themselves. You all end up in court and whatever the court decides, UKC will abide by. Hopefully, you have a copy of a contract but from you're not saying you have, I'm going to assume that you do not.

Remember everyone, don't pay full price for a dog until you get the papers. And if you do, you're on your own. UKC is a registry like a title company for your home or a registration for your car. We only record the transactions when the proper paperwork comes to us. We can't get papers for you, we can't get your money back if you're not satisifed with the dog, we can't make any guarantees. We are so saddened to hear of the problems our customers have. We want to help but then registration fees would be tripled, we'd be taking over the courts' job and we'd all be lawyers.

I wish you luck that it works out for you. Next time, promise me you won't take such a risk.
